dashlights that blink on for a split second after starting up

so i'll be starting the car up in the morning. it'll crank *hesistate* and with an almost forced cough, the engine will start. once it starts the oil light blinks for about half a second. this happens at every startup. intermittently, the O/D off light will stay on for about a second after startup. I let the beeps beep away before starting my car. Is this something of concern?

99 gle with 99k
ngk plats and fuel filter with 15k on them
clean tb & maf; paper filter with 3k on it.
new battery

The O/D light stays on for a short period, that's a normal thing. The blinking oil light, I am not sure of. It usually happens when an engine is running rough, but there could be a million causes for that. Have you checked for any codes?

One more thing, check your oil, make sure it's not low.

Normally the oil light does not blink. That's what concerns me.

the oil pressure switch needs to hit a certin pressure to go out and it takes time for the oil to reach the switch. alas its normal.

yeah me too!!!!

My dash lights kinda blink for a while when the key is in the on position (prior to cranking the engine) then when I crank the engine, the starter engages, but the engine fails to start, it may or may not cough, then when I try a second or third time, it comes to life, all lights go out and it purrs like a kitten. I'm new to this car(1996 infiniti i30), so haven't become familiar with it's pecadillos. I have changed the starter and oil, but I only used four quarts (manual calls for 4.4) but the oil level is disgustingly difficult to read and I'm afraid of overfilling. One other thing,, the sound diminishes on the radio/cd when I apply the brakes or turn on the lights...i'M THINKING ELECTRICAL!!.....AS AN ASIDE, THE CAR IS A WONDERFUL DRIVING EXPERIENCE,,
