beeping alarm?

has any one done the mod on VQpower where you can make your stock alarm beep instead of just lights blinking? if so...does any one have a better schematic or directions because the ones on the site arent very clear as to everything...

I've got a great one I created in CAD using the wiring diagram from my Haynes manual.

I be home in a couple of hours & I'll post it. You can use it with the pictures & directions on the VQpower site.

I did it then later took it out as I found it annoying...and needed to re-use the relay I used in the project.

It's not so much annoying as it is somewhat useless, as it's not that audible unless you're near the trunk or walking away from the car behind it.

Maybe a louder speaker or some other sort of beep (I love the OEM keyless on my Camry), but this mod isn't all that great.

Better than nothing, I guess.

Here is a better detail for the alarm beep mod, good luck and don't forget where you got it from.

I was just saying the same thing but ryant said something about running the wires through a grommet under the spare and have it mounted outside so you can really hear it. It's useless but hey, it's something to do that costs nearly nothing.

if the sounder is mounted outside the trunk (under bumper) is audible as far as you can get and stay in range of the remote.

I don't think it's useless, I hated having to watch for the lights to see if my doors locked as I walk way.

I guess I never looked at it that way. I can barely hear it but that's okay because I'm going to mount it outside the trunk. Where exactly is this place you guys are talking about though.

Take out your spare & you'll find a rubber gromet, pull it out and run your wire through.

And find a hole to zip tie the sounder to and tuck the wire.

But if you hit a big puddle, you may need to replace the sounder. Here in SoCal it doesn't really rain so I'm not worried about it. Besides the sounder is cheap.

This mod is useless. Everytime I step away from a car I hear a WHOO WHOO from a Firetruck, Cop car, or Ambulance than this PIS. You Need a megaphone not a PCU type pip squeek noise.

The move somewere quieter. Or find a louder sounder at Radio Shack. the Db level is listed on the package.

I saw another buzzer at radioshack but paid it no mind. It looked bigger. It may have been louder. I'll check and get the part number if it's louder.

This sounder is rated at 108dB, the one listed in the write up is only 85dB check it out.
