got alarm.... lost auto roll down windows......... what to do??????
so i got an alarm installed, but i lost one thing i loved about the max......the auto roll down windows. the alarm i got is a Clifford matrix 10.2. its a pretty sweet set up, but the place that did the install said they would have to call DEI, the place that makes the alarm, to find out how to do the windows. well i guess that dei told them the auto windows have to be linked to the ignition or to the actual key hole in the door. this is not the case with them max. but im thinkin all you should have to do is tap the wire that came with the car that did that on the stock "security" system. so im sure im not the first to encounter this and i was wondering what yall did.
i did look into window modulator-ma-jigs, but that would cost $130 installed at the place that did the alarm, which is the lowest in the valley, by far.
hopefully a 4gen teckie guy knows or i will post this in the electronics forum. thanks in advance

I was told the same thing when alarm shopping, since i got the keyless entry and the auto window the only thing i'm missing is the "beep" and the siren, an upgrade or "add-on" system is like 99 bucks and that adds the siren beep and door, window, hood and trunk pins. if I opted for a completely new alarm and wanted to keep the auto window i'd have to cary both remotes and who wants to do that? you need to decide which is more important a paging system that you have to change batteries in every two months or auto windows?

Yeah, if you have a DEI alarm, they make an accessory module to row down or row up power windows in their alarms. They have one module that operates the windows in one direction only (up or down, your choice) or both directions (up and down). I had one installed on my '95. I would think if you want to still use the factory, you have to duplicate its frequency to the existing alarm system in the car. I don't know if any aftermarket alarms do this...that is why they sometimes have add-on units to their systems to make things less complicated and more secure.

i looked into the modules, they are expensive and i dont think i should have to pay that for them. isnt just something you program to one of the accessory buttons?
i havent tried the stock remote yet. never thought of it. but it works with it, then i may switch over.

I am almost sure that youll have to buy the modules, becuase I also have a viper and the guy offered to me the window roll down fuction for 20 bucks at bestbuys and i was already paying close to 400bucks on my first paycheck so i didn't want to push my luck to far. I backed out and just got remote starter and alarm

Carry both remotes during the hot summer months...
I haven't found a way to integrate into the factory BCM to do the roll down so you will have to buy modules if you want it.
For the trunk release you only need an extra relay (since we already have the electronic solenoid).

Its a DEI option, i had it installed along with my responder.
Its a way better feature then the stock version. And it also closes the windows with the remote. It also automatically closes the windows along with doors when activated.
So if you the type who worries if you remember to close the windows when its raining, worry no more.

maybe i'll have to look into a module then. i already got enought shiit in my pockets with out carrying 2 remotes. but it might be worth it. anyway, i'll prob get a one way window-roller-downer. i like the idea of my windows rolling up by themselves, but i also like to crack my windows in the summer to keep it cooler inside.
maybe two remotes it not such a bad thing..............
