HID rig
aight lemme see how to xplain myself and my question.
well i happened to get my hands on some 5th gen factory HID headlights with the bulbs and ballasts.
in order to make them "light up" all it takes is a positive and ground connection.
on my previous vehicle i cut and spliced the 5th gen maxima hids into my trucks headlight low beam wire and ground wire. and it worked fine. but remember i cut and spliced the wires and soldered them together and wrapped em in electrical tape. i dint use any harness or anything. it worked fine...no melting of wires....nada.
now on my 97 gle.... iwanna do the same thing....but i dont wanna cut and splice.
i took apart a 9004 bulb today and kept the bottom half that plugs into the headlight plug on my car.
i noticed 3 internal wires in the plug itself from the bulb i dissassembled. i am assuming one is low beam another is high beam and the last is ground.
now my question is.....can i connect the 5th gen hids to the ground connection and low beam connection on the dissassembled bulb...solder it...tape it up and plug it into the plug for my headlights.....and modify my stock headlights to make the bulb fit without cutting and splicing my factory headlight harness?
are there any problems with this "setup" ?
should i install an inline fuse or relay?
if i need a relay how do connect one to the "setup"?
ur inputs are greatly appreciated.
i was thinkin instead of using 5th gen hids.....i wud use my friends acura tl hids.
thanx a lot

You can wire it like that, have crazy glare, 90% foreground light and no distant light coverage and no high beams. Yeah you can do it. If you get projectors you get the maximum light distant and foreground and high beams if you get bi zenon projectors. I wouldn't trust the low beam wire for solo power for the ballasts, it's best to get/make a harness with a relay. Go to hidplanet.com/forums To find out how to make a harness. Check the thread in my sig for projectors.
