Automatics with over 100K..step in

Just swapped my tranny at 102K, but ive been taking my car to the track a lot and using drag radials which is pretty hard on the tranny. New tranny has 82k when i dropped it in, it shifts a whole lot better when my tranny was at 82k.

163k. When it's cold it doesn't want to shift until it goes through the whole first gear. Also neutral dropped on it's own(I had it on drive and it just revved and dropped.) I'm waiting till it just dies so I have an exuse for a 5sp conversion.

My mechanic says the Maximas are a "drive" car. Change the oil regularly, and change the plugs and run sea foam in your gas occasionally and in the engine for about 10 minutes before changing the oil, and there's little else to do but drive it. He also reccomended not channging the tranny fluid unless it's burned or dark. This usually happens if you get stuck in snow and rock it or pull a trailer. I've got 115000 on my 1995 and the tranny fluid was changed at 45000. He reccomended not changing it again unless it's burned when you check it. Just my $.02.

118k here. its fine. ever since i added the drop resistor mod and ran with it a couple times my tranny seems to shift EXTREMELY smooth, especially at WOT when im NOT using the drop resistor.
i dont do neutral drops but i power brake occasionally.

When it's cold in winter the 2-3 shift is real lazy until the tranny warms up.
Otherwise it is good.
But it's a piece of crap compared to how my old K1500 (4L80E) shifted. That tranny was a thing of beauty.
If you weren't on it real hard, it would shift so smooth you couldn't even tell.
When you got on it, it would chirp the tires.

Your mechanic is going to cost you a whole lot of money and frustration in the end. My advice, change your fluid regularly if you have been. If you have gone as long as I did or this guy I am quoting you may be in serious trouble if you decide to change it.

101k miles and the tranny is still smooth. 1-2 shifts are a little when the engine's still cold, but otherwise, it's golden. I've only had the car for about 7k miles though, so I don't know the history of the car.

121k here have had the car since 93k have never changed the tranny fluid once and just looked at it the other day still red and clean. Somedays are better than others ie. when its cold and it needs to warm up, also sometimes sitting in dead stop traffic on the cross bronx expressway all the downshifting sometimes in 5 miles of traffic it acts up and it downshifts real hard so i try to just baby it.

Bought at 47k, it's at 111,500 now. VB mod at ~80k. Still shifting hard and fast, usually at WOT(thanks to MEVI...105k)
I am already planning the tranny swap though...
