Anyway for you to get a soundclip of the Dynomax?
I didn't see any clips in the exhaust sticky.

I'm getting ready to order one as well, my stocker is almost rusted through. But I don't want anything too loud. I had a WS 'Q' (quiet) muffler and catback and that was too loud so had to get rid of it. I'm back to just a WS Y pipe, stock cat and B pipe, but need a new muffler.

To all the guys talking about silencing their exhaust by using stock mufflers, you all need a lesson in physics. Most people get straight through, high flow, mandrel bent piping so as to increase the velocity of the exhaust gas exiting your engine's exhaust valves. I dont know if you've ever seen the guts of an oem muffler but it looks like a labyrinth, creating lots of pressure, even with an oem exhaust. When you heighten the pressure of the exiting gas, and block it off at the end, you're creating an exorbitant amount of back pressure. Resonators are the way to go, anyone who mention this approach is right on the money. The droning you're trying to eliminate is the product of pressurized air friction, much like the noise you can make when blowing across a glass jug's opening. Save yourself HP and just slap on a resonator, or even two, because they are usually positioned in the B-pipe they dont actually rob your power the way exhaust manifold precats do. If you still think the way to silence your exhaust is the stock muffler, check out Kevlo911's post about the exploding muffler...

good responses all around. This is what makes that other exhaust clip sticky sooo important. I have no performance mods YET. But reading these threads and having the actual clips helps make the decision easier. Keep taking those clips everyone!! thanks

Yeah, I have a flowmaster 40, budget b-pipe,y-pipe, and 14" resonator. The resonator definitely made it quieter. I used to have the muffler on there with all straight pipes and it sounded terrible. Now it sounds very agressive at WOT. It does drone a little though at low rpms. Does anyone know anything about resonators. I want to buy one but, I'm not sure what size to get. I know they make different diameter and length resonators. Is it the thicker/longer the quieter?

I just bought the 2.5" Super Turbo muffler

I have a Y-Pipe, Hi-Flow Cat, 2.5" Piping from the cat back...I also have a resonated B-pipe

The muffler is extremely loud and very deep!!

What could be my problem?

The previous muffler that I had was the Warpseed Quiet Muffler (it sounded great)

thanks

The Apexi was deeper, but had little to no drone. You really couldnt tel I had an exhaust system unless I got on it. For an aftermarket catback, the Apexi WS is definatly quiter then the rest.

FOR THE WIN....but i also do like the 2001 muffler.....although tech. its not aftermarket its OEM

Anybody? I'm still looking for a different resonator, but am having trouble finding one that'll fit. I'll probably just take it to an exhaust shop and tell them to find me a bigger one that'll fit on my car.

I would suggest that anyone that posts how quiet their setup is should also state what they have on the car. (Eg. Budget Y, stock B, Apexi WS muffler.)
The reason I say that is because "quiet" is so subjective here.

Ypipe + SP2 = loud.

Y-pipe + SP2 + Custom silencer = just loud enough that it doesn't become annoying.

Y-pipe + SP2 + Custom silencer + $500 worth of sound deadening material = quieter then stock.

Has anyone factored in an intake? without an intake, or like me, a budget Y-pipe and everything else stock?

Intake doesn't really affect the loudness of the exhaust system. I have a custom CAI and was audible from the cabin. But since I added a y/cat/b pipes and magnaflow, the sound from it drowns out the sound from the intake.

This is gonna be a little off the topic, but did you feel a difference in HP's when you put in your CAI?

HP...probably not as you only notice the HP increase on a dyno. I did feel a bit of a difference in throttle response. The real benefit came after adding the exhaust system.
