How to check Oxygen Sensor?

Hello, I am trying to check my Left bank o2 sensor to see if it is working properly. I am getting the code 0210. How do I check my o2 sensor? I believe I need to check the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter. How do I do that? I want to see if it is working.

Thanks for the help, Aaron

Hook up an obdII reader it will let you monitor the voltage and tell you very quickly if its ok or not.

If you don't have one, borrow it or go to a store that will let you use theirs.

Oxygen sensors on our cars are really touchy. In my case, I've lived with a off and on 0135 code (b1 s1) for over a year. Everytime I reset it, it would go away and not come back for a few months, so I left it alone. A few weeks back, I started getting the same code again, but it would come right back up again everytime I started the car. After a quick swap with a new o2 from oxygensensors.com, the issue was solved. Instaed of going through the trouble of all the available diag steps, I just reset the cel and see how long it takes for the light to come back. If the light is not constant, you know the o2 is working well enough. If the cel pops up right away even after a reset(you have to restart the car), you know you have a bad o2 and it's a definite.

Excellent response. I haven't had one go bad yet so haven't gone through the experience although I think I have one now but won't know till spring when I get the car on the road again.

Yes even though it may be working when you check it, the test is how long it takes for the CEL to come on if it does.

BTW when you check it with the reader it will have a constant changing voltage when its working properly.

Yeah, I had a rear o2 that would only trip the CEL every 2k miles or so, so I didn't worry about it. Finally swapped it out.

I reset the ECU. The CEL went away. I started the car and it came back on within 2 minutes. I need to get an OBDII scanning done. Unless you guys can think of anything better.

Ehh I guess you could always buy one put it on see if it goes away. If it does leave it on if not return it. Or get it scanned.
