Optimum TPS setting......in ohms ?
to relieve my high idle and poor throttle response i decided to check the tps setting. it came in at .548 ohms, which seemed to high. haynes says to adjust with feeler guages, but i would rather use a more accurate method such as setting by resistance. the book says the tps should be at .5 and since haynes rarely shows resistance beyond the tenths range, i was wondering if anyone has experimented with the settings. also,i would like to know what the factory setting is, since it has been messed with by someone else .5?? mine is set now at .504 and seems to be much more responsive and has a smoother idle, but i think it could be slightly better.....thanks.

first thing first you need to check the continuity of the throttle switch its the grey side the other side with brown harness is the throttle postition sensor its 2 build in to 1 sensor thats why it has 2 harness, on the grey side you need to probe your ohm meter set it (for continuity) probe it to the last 2 needles going towardes the passenger side (grey harness have to disconnect to check) car must be fully warmed up, insert the feeler gauge between the throttle body stop screw (the area where the cable are are connected) on you meter you should be getting continuity meaning some ohms on your meter, now take out the 012 gauge and insert the 016 gauge it the same place, now you should not be getting any continuity at all meaning no ohms reading, if you are then you have to adjust it to what i just described you have to lossen the tps sensor and adjust it with feeler gauge and the ohm meter for the brown side you dont need a feeler gauge just disconnect the brown harness dont set your ohm meter on continuity, set it on regular low range reading, it probe it to the last 2 needles you should get 0.5 ohm- .400 k with the car not running move the throttle butter fly it should go up .400k you cant adjust the sensor through the brown side
