How to tell if car has LSD
Something wierd has came up. I have heard that if you lift your car and spin one tire the other tire will go the opposite way, this indicates if you have lsd. My car doesnt do that but my friends 96 max does. Does this mean he has LSD?

Look at the tranny code. If it ends in V, lsd. If it is A, non lsd.

The Torsen that's in those cars just multiplies the maximum torque to one wheel by up to ~2.5x on the other - a very gentle setup - so if one wheel is caught in a low traction situation or leaves the ground, you apply little or no power to either wheel. Maybe it's a RWD thing though, I'm still trying to mentally sort through how these things would affect a FWD car's driving.

The clutch pack type LSD will react to wheelspin much quicker than a viscous-type LSD. I would say that's better... in regards to the quality of a particular product, possibly not, but in concept a clutch pack LSD is "better" than a VLSD, at least for RWD applications. Now that I think about it, FWD may be another story, since it ideally will need different turning speeds of either axle.
