AWhat do you think about the aftermarket starters like Bosch, Denso or Champion?
Aparentely I have to change my UAP starter... the dealership told me that it doesn't turn fast enough, so it's the cause of 0407 code.

Thanks.

UAP

I would stick to an OEM starter... but thats because I don't want to chance being stranded and having to replace my Autozone "special" starter (regardless of the lifetime warranty) on a regular basis.

The aftermarket ones are hit-or-miss... and lately it seems that with axles, alternators, starters, it's been more miss.

You can get an OEM starter (reman) for 180 - to me, it's not worth saving the 50 bucks and buying an aftermarket one.

i shouldnt have bought an autozone one (about three weeks ago) but I had to change it immediately after my original starter died; unfortunately...

One day when i have an extra 180 to throw around maybe I'll hit up a dealer for a real one.

I just bought one from a dealer so I don't have to worry about it later.

I've had a bosch starter for a year now. Hasn't given me problems... starts up like a charm every time.

How many teeth has the pinion of an OEM starter? 8 or 10? They said that there is a new model of 1.4 Watt (or KW). What you know about that?

The starter was updated to have more teeth, there was a problem with the old design *8 tooth* in that it didn't crank the engine fast enough. So any OEM reman you get, should have the updated reduction gear design.
