is hard acceleration bad for the engine?

but what are you going to do
how much did you pay for your repair, because I need to find a good mechanic if something goes terribly wrong, yet again Ive had no problems with my current one and doubt there will be any

And thirded on tickling redline multiple times every single day!
The temp gauge in our cars is not a reliable indicator of being at operating temp. Our gauge gives a temp range of probably 70+ degrees. So it could be anywhere from 130 to 200 when it is in the middle. Someone on here checked this with a scan tool and posted his results about it. And the gauge only tells coolant temp. Coolant temp is not important in this scenario, oil temp is. Depending on ambient temperature and driving style, your oil may not be at operating temp for 10+ minutes of driving.
Once at operating temp, WOT runs aren't THAT bad for the engine. There will be increased wear due to the higher rpm's, but not likely something you can measure.
Make sure all your maintenance is up to date, and you're running a quality oil of the proper viscosity for your temps (5w30 in cold and 5w30 or 10w30 in hot weather). And if you're going to be driving it hard, I'd change the oil at the severe duty schedule, which would be every 3000 miles. I would NOT do extended drain intervals, even if running a synthetic. With harder driving, wear increases, which means more metal particles in the oil, which increases wear, which means more metal particles in the oil, which... You get the idea. And I sure wouldn't believe a filter will get it all. For oil, I run Castrol GTX 5w30, even if it's not the "coolest" to run according to some on here. It gets very good results according to the oil analysis spreadsheet and BITOG members (forums here: http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php ). And I got bad UOA's running Mobil 1 5w30. Plus GTX is cheap enough for me to change every 3000 miles without having to wonder if my oil is still clean enough and containing adequate wear additives.
Don't forget coolant and tranny maintenace, either. And check your tires often. Blowouts suck. Tires lose approx 1 psi for every 10*F temp drop, and also 1 psi/month, so keep that in mind with winter coming. What was 32 psi at 80* will be 26* at 20, not including the monthly loss. Low tires heat up quicker, and blow easier.
Have fun with the car, but play it safe. Hope this helps.

My engine must hate me ... I love WOT when the needle points at cold. The VQ can handle WOT daily. It is those Chevy Cavi's that you don't want to go WOT every minute
... Domestic engines can't handle the stress as well.

man i have to hope i'm not the only person who goes WOT at some point pretty much every time they're drivin their car.. or if they have somewhere to be fast.. from every stop sign as soon as they can get traction up to the speed limit lol. Maybe its just me.
the maxima is not made to be racing around in, these hard WOT runs are bad on the engine, and will result in you parking the car. i would advise to drive normally, listen to some classical music and just settle down. you wont catch me running my maxima hard and thats why I have 162,000 miles on the original engine, with no leaks, and no worries !
Are you talking about the Chariot??? You race that car a lot and you rarely go WOT? I'm sure you go WOT when you race, no?

I've got 168,000 miles, running strong, no leaks and I floor it all the time, 4-5 times a day.

and the best treatment for a depressed Maxima is to race a civic.

before i got 'maxima sprung' i used to be honda sprung, but once go max you never go back, but i still got a lil love for the H so i take advantage of everything else, i try my best to race something at least twice a day, and i must admit, the results makes me wanna do it again and again and again lol
