SP2 Leak...

hey guys. well i just notice a small rumble comming from out of the flange behind the wheel on my exhaust. I grab a wrench and tighted it as tight as i could but it wouldnt get any tighter. what could cause the leak? if i get close to it i can hear it comming out of the flange. its getting on my nerves.

It's probably a gasket. Replace it.

If you used the supplied gasket, I'm pretty sure that's your problem. I burned through mine after a year.

remove the gasket and any remaining pieces and use permatex red to seal it up.

didn't you just put that in there sean? i wouldn't think the gaskets would go that fast unless you used the stock ones.

quick question. just put on my cattman ss y pipe. Theres a kind of annoying rumble below 2300rpm while driving. Is this normal? I thought cattmans were almost stock.

Another alternative is buying gaskets from the dealer, they're cheap enough.

i have a question about gaskets. sorta.
well i replaced my y pipe and where it connects to the cat the stock gasket was like 3 thin sheets of metal in the shape of the gasket i replaced it with which had a sort of papery texture and was thicker with a metal ring inside it.
well i had been getting this real high pitch rasp as high high rpm and i thought it was that gasket.
i went to autozone and the guy told me those thin sheet looking things was actually a spacer.....so i put that back in. the "BUDGET" gasket was burnt up.
i still have the rasp.
i dont feel like there is a good seal around any of my connections even with the gaskets in there.
so is the metal gasket really a spacer?
also, what are you guys doing about your sp2 burning your bumper at the tip of the exhaust?

Solution: weld it. I have all genuine nissan gaskets... cost me a bit more, but worth it. I have no raspy tone at high rpm's. As for your burning bumper... I have never heard of that in a '95-'96.
