What grease to use for Starter

Going to re-grease my starter tomorrow. Which type of grease do you guys use? Went to a local auto store and they told me to use Di-electric grease. I read the packaging and it was illustrating its use on SparkPlugs.

Is this ok or is a High temp grease needed?

The grease that I used, as well as motorvate.ca if I remember correctly is White Lithium Grease.

Di-Electric grease is for electrical components. The part of the starter your greasing is mechanical. Hi temp wheel bearing grease should do just fine.

I used a synthetic grease from Walmart. Looks red in the can for about $5 bucks. Regreased about a year ago. So far, so good!!

thanks dudes...not too sure why the guy told me dielectric grease.. he did say that the starter is an electrical componenet. Now I am not a mechanic but it sounded odd to me.

Will use some synthetic white grease.

k.

He probably thought you wanted to dab some on the terminals. I used bearing grease in the tubs myself.

it definitley has to be removed. You are basically dissasembling the whole starter. See the motorcate.ca instructions.
