12 Volt Soure?

12 Volt Soure?
This is probably a simple thing but I am a newb, so please bear with me. I'm trying to install a dvd player and I need a constant 12V source in my center console. I hear that I can use the cig lighter. But there are two wires..black & orange. Which is the power source? Also, where else can I tap into a constant 12V? Thank you!

...if there's two wires, and one is black, and black is always ground...
I'm honestly not so sure that if you can't differentiate between a ground and a hot wire (in this case common sense, with different colors just use a multimeter) that you should be taking on the challenge of installing a DVD player.
Also, just remember the cig lighter isn't a 'constant' 12V in that it's acc switched, not battery such as, for example, the headlights. So you won't be able to use the DVD player (assuming you're able to install it all) without the key being in either accessory or ignition.

As pmohr said, the cig lighter is not constant and is only one while the car is on or in 'acc' mode. The orange is the hot wire though and the black is ground. I have hooked up many things to those 2 wires.
As far as a constant 12 Volt source, I know there is power going to your head unit at all times so you can eject the CD I am pretty sure that is 12 Volts. If I were you, I wouldn't hook it up to a constant power source because you will have to turn it on and off every time you get in the car and you also run the risk of having a dead battery.
