Redline MTL and MT90 are both true GL-4s, and Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Neo also make GL-4/GL-5s that are safe in our gearboxes. These are premium sythetics though and they will cost $50+ to fill your tranny.
But cheap off-the-shelf GL-5 is a mistake. If you're not getting something I listed above, it would be wise to buy something that says GL-4, period.
A battery is a battery, unless you are trying to save weight (which is silly since Max's aren't exactly Lotus's), or you are concerned with starting in very cold weather and long periods (days at a time) between starts. The extra cost goes into to addition CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and a longer warranty.

If you are asking these kinds of questions, just take your car to a lube joint and get them to do it for you. It's cheaper than an oil change. For my money, I stay away from the synthetic gear oil and just use GL4 in either a 75W90 or 80W90. I suspect an 80w90 is preferable in your state as it doesn't get that cold. 75W90 is better in colder weather.

But the "Lube Joint" is not likely to have anything but cheap GL-5 to fill with. They may BS you with the "5 is more than 4, so of course it will work" - which is wrong since cheap GL-5 is what does damage. So wherever you get it done, make sure it's a GL-4 of some sort.
