Stillen Kit question

Stillen Kit question
I plan on getting one soon. Few questions.
1) I cant keep my slash guards on the car correct ?? Ive never seen a stillen body kit on a car with splash guards as well.
2) As far as installation, should I just tackle the install myself with screws and 3M double sided tape ??
3) I have a bit of rust showing through where the kits gonna be mounted, should I have that treated before I install the kit ??

1. u cant keep ur splash guards, u can sell them for 30 bux..
2. ...and buy 3m tape for 30 bux. tackle the job urself, all i have is 3m tape holding the kit and some screws on the ends of the side skirts, the ends of the front lip, and the ends of the rear valences

Matty, I wouldn't try to put the kit on yourself. We're not talking a STS or even a supercharger. This is the exterior of your car, and if you bought a body kit, you obviously care about it's appearance. It sucks, but I paid the money to have the kit fit professionally, because it needs to be painted anyways, and if they mess it up, it's their responsibility to fix it.

You really shouldn't do it yourself, especially not with double sided tape. Kits don't always fit perfectly even if they're made specifically for your car, and that particular year. It's just wiser to have a professional do it and that way if they mess it up they pay for it, not you. Stay away from the jury rigged crap like double-side tape!!

Btw Matty,
The stillen kit fits perfectly!! you CAN do it your self...But I would have the rust fixed first and while they are at it have it painted and installed then. You need to use the double sided tape but buy or get the body shop to use the 3-m tape it is MUCH better. You can't use your splash gaurds that's your trade off. My body kit is held on by 3-m tape and a total of (10) pop rivits

I know alot of guys that install it themselfs. I will talk to the Body shop that Im having paint the lip and see what he wants to do. Most like Ill just have him screw it in. If its gonna be $250, Ill do it. Shouldnt take longer than an hour but you never know what they charge.

hey matty, i actually just installed mine that I bought off of nismotic this week...if its used clean it really good and buy some 3m tape from pepboys, home depot, etc. Line it up along the edges of the kit...next you have to screw the sides to the wheel wells...You can just rotate the front wheels but for the back, you have to take the wheels off. Oh and buy self tapping screws from any hardware store and they'll go right in. Next I put a few screws under the sides and the rears to hold them on better...That's it and it fits perfectly and looks awesome. I have to take some more pictures with the rears on but check out my sig for more recent pics and look back tonight for more.

3m exterior mounting tape. thats some good stuff. make sure you clean bother surfaces and ruff the inside of the kit for proper adhesion. it takes a good part of the day to install. just prefit the parts 1st, then have them painted.

So installing this bad boy myself isnt a big deal ?? I went to get an estimate today for paint, and its $350. He couldnt give me a price on the install because he doesnt know how its going to fit

yea man my friend just did one on his 4th Gen. and this other kid did it on a G35, if you can put a stillen kit on a G35 yourself, you can damn sure put a kit on a max, I shouldnt have to go into much more detail than that on why it holds true.

i think the kit will actually go on better w/o them cause my kit kinda bulges out there where they are on my car....see how the kit fits w/o them on and let me know cause I might just go ahead and take em off

Does anyone know which rear panels you get with the 95-96 kit? The stillen picture for kit 108250 has a short rear panel that stops before the bumper. Yet every 95-96 Maxima that I can find a picture of on the .org or cardomain has rears that wrap around the bumper to the exhaust on the passenger side. Just trying to figure out what will be shipped. I know that the 97-99 wraps, but the cars I have seen still have the stock 95-96 bumper.

Thanks, I haven't actually seen the Stillen kit on a car so wanted to make sure. The wrap arounds look much better than the shortys in the pictures. I've been debating the Stillen and Iconic FRP kit in the GB section. Just trying to decide which one to get.

I just did a dry fit of mine last night, to pre drill the holes before I sent it to get painted. The longest part was taking off the rear wheel. Its easy i have one more rocker panel to do so I might take pics as I do it.

all new holes. the kit comes with rivets and crappy 2 sided tape, but dont use them. the sides only need screws at either wheel well and 3m tape all the way down the door sill. the rears can get screwed in from the under side and use tape as needed. as for the front the 95/96 needs to be done right. it has a tendancy to fall off if done wrong. it has to be screwed in from behind. the 97-99 doesnt have this problem so it just needs a few screws here and there.
also if you plan on driving in the winter its a good idea to make the front removable. the 1st time i installed my lip i used 5 screws and lots of tape. it sucked to take off. this time i only used the 5 screws. now it slips on and off in minutes.

Sorry but no holes line up. It possible you could try lining some of the side skirt ones up front. I didnt beacuse its a pain to get it just right. There are not existing holes out back or up front to use.
I used drill point screws (most confuse these with self tapping) for the sheet metal.
On the bumper I used self tapping pan head screws.
I actually want to swap out all of them for the large headed stock screws for that OEM look.
