Any Idea's?
Ok guys, my car is still runing ruff ( sputter/hesitation when you accelerate and doesnt idle right either). I drained tank, put new gas in, replaced fuel filter. Still nothing, i took it to autozone and had them pull codes, it came back with Knock Sensor and Crankshaft sensor, i replaced the crankshaft sensor and it still is doing it. I also though ok well i tested the coil packs to see if they were good and they showed that they were so then i replaced the MAF. Still nothing. Im down to my last ideas, im just gonna try to replace the knock sensor and the coil packs and spark plugs. Thats all i know left to do and if it still doesnt make a difference then im clueless. Do you guys think that a knock sensor can make that happen? Well if you guys have any ideas let me know...thanks..

yea the ks will at times do stuff like that.. put in a 470k ohm resistor in and see if it does it still... put it in where the harness connects to the ks... on the cars side not on the ks side... and just make sure you are running premium gas

this sounds like a classic case of needing (a) a new gas cap but you probably wotn be that lucky or (b) which is your fuel pump is dead and a new one needs to be put in. I had it happen on the 95 I had for a few months. (I hated my 3rd Gen. but the guy didn't take very good care of it at all). anyways try that.

Heed help
Guys i really need your help. For some reason i can't post my own thread
I've got some problem with my car, i got it a week ago it's 97 with a 156k miles on it. It runs very good, but when engine works i can hear some kind of "click click click" and it comes from the second valve cover witch is behind intake mainfold and i can hear it mostly from the left side (where is the belts)
One more thing, when the car is cold i hear these clicks very slightly because rpms about 1500 and it's kinda mixing with the all other noises, but when car warms up rpms about 600 and engine bay is more soundless those damn clicks comes out more painfull for my ears. I don't think that is injectors because it sounds more like metal. And all the times it's exactly the same spot where it comes from. For me it seems like one wrong valve adjusment. I didn't change the oil after a previous owner yet and it's still running on regular gas witch is left in tank.
I'm still hope if i'll do the oil change and premium gas it'll solve the problem.
I really want to be happy with my car but i can't because of this problem.
Help me please any advise maybe someone expiriensed this problem.
Please do not ignore
Thank you.

dont forget that dirty throttle body and blocked IACV. The IACV basically manages air-fuel mix at idle and low revs. I'm gonna chack mine out this w/e.
P.S. replace yr KS I reckon I got an extra 20HP replacing mine (error code 0304)

Well, im so confused and lost on what to do, i now replaced the knock sensor and coil packs and the spark plugs, its still doing it..But the wierd thing that i noticed was it only starts acting up after the car is warmed up...

When the car warms up the ECU goes from open loop to closed loop. If the problem is only when warm, its an ECU control problem.
I don't know much about Nissan ECU's, but I would have expected a code to tell you what sensor is out of range (my ole Jag displayed the code on the radio display).
I'd clean all the sensor connectors (except the O2 sensor) and make sure they are on good. Then I'd likely replace the O2 sensor.
Does anybody know if a flakey O2 sensor lights a "check engine" or leaves a code on a Maxima?

no one suggested ohming out the injectors? Pulling coil pack connectors while the car is running to see which cylinder isn't firing? The gas cap is fine if it makes a whoosh when you open it, and the fuel pump is fine if you hear it come on when you turn the key to the acc position. If your knock sensor is bad, thats what is causing your problems though.
The knock sensor being bad causes your car to have higher EGTs and sends more unburnt mixture out, possibly making your o2 sensors not work. But they would throw a code, and they would get better on their own most of the time if they are just coated with fuel.
