it wouldnt really be a big deal if there was a legitimate post made... maybe thats just my opinion... he just gave an opinion on a post over 4 years old... the original post didnt really contain any facts. and all he did was post advice to a 4 year old thread. its just a little weird that someone with over 300 posts would do something like that... not hating just wondering why more or less...

The real injen sits right behind the radiator and therefore is a hot air intake.The best CAI is the place racing CAI because it sits in the fender away from the engine.

I just installed a cai. This is a "true" cai because it is in my drivers side fender.
Still going to buy some header wrap and I have to seal the hole I drilled with something. I also need to get a new hose.

Thats true. I just mean it has to be far away from engine. I mean you could put it in the trunk if you wanted to haha.

I agree with some of the previous posters, don't waste your money on intakes unless its being driven by a turbo or supercharger. Hell some of these intakes are already half the price of a turbo or close to it.
But yeah I've tried just about every set up, hacked air box, ram air, CAI, and one thing thats good about them all is the SOUND. But performance wise the only thing I like out of them all is the CAI and I mean a REAL CAI where you are putting the filter in the fender or somewhere colder than your engine bay.

Why do people call it a "Real" cold air intake? A cold air intake is a tube and filter that grabs air from a cooler area. No other way to it. If anyone has seen the new evo's, the filter sits behind the hood scoop and grabs air as it comes straight through the scoop. Pretty sick.

Warpspeed does not sell intakes (for example). Also, this is how it is covered, rather than have someone start a new pointless thread, why not just bump an old one that has yet to be answered?

The VQ engine bay seems to be laid out pretty much identical to the VE. Years ago, I had one of the original WSP CAI's that required you to cut the large hole near the battery, which was a HUGE hassle, but I felt really noticeable gains from it. For the past few years I've just had a "short ram" intake, or HAI but decided to do a true CAI again
Looks like you VQ guys could probably do the same thing I just did on my VE. 10X easier than cutting the huge 3" hole (plus the hassle of trying to get into the fender from underneath to deal with the filter):

I actually did it a few days ago. If you have a hole saw, it is extremely easy. Just make sure you dont cut any wires going into the relay box. To access the filter from underneath, just take out three screws and the plastic will fall off. Then put filter in and use clamps to tighten it. Its not hard.
