Underdrive Pulley

It's a maxima given that a y pipe is the best bang for your buck, but what i'm wondering is if a underdrive pulley is a close second...unorthodox claims 8-10 hp increase, is that true?! I'm sure i'll get flamed for this thread but I gotta know and couldn't find it in the recent posts anywhere.

The VQ will rev faster and it will contribute to reaching peak power earlier.

so reaching peak power faster=more power?? I can see how reving faster would be convenient but doesn't seem like it would help very much w/o alot of mods...I have a y pipe and hacked intake...think it will be very noticeable??

Spend a little extra and get a lightened flywheel if you want to feel what an underdrive pulley CLAIMS you will. I didn't notice a difference in my UDP until my ac was bypassed and more when only power steering was hooked up.

That's interesting. This is a little off subject, but does anyone make aftermarket cam shafts (to compliment the lighter pulley)?

Yes, but the cost/benefit ratio is not very good.

And yes, I dont really think this yeilds more hp, just changes the curve.

The UDP seems to only allow the engine to spin a little easier/ less work. But I don't really think it "frees up horsepower".
There's also pistons I think, but none of it seems worth it unless you're rebuilding the engine already.

When installed my UDP it only shaved off a tenth of a second off my quarter mile time.

hmm... i didn't feel much gains when i put the pulley on, but couple days later however i noticed the increases, especially in lower rpm's, car pulls a lil tiny bit faster. Motorstorm UP is only like 90$ so its not that expensive, get it.
