DAMNIT! I lost my keys!

what yr is youre car? if it doesnt have an electronic key as in the later years, just remove the lock cylinder from the trunk and get a key made, thats what i did. and if you have keyless entry, go and buy one from ebay. Take the cylinder off of the trunk cuz its easier than removing one from the door or ignition.

haha, thats what happen to me as well, sux b@llz! Well I just removed the cylinder from the trunk, took it down to a locksmith and had 2 keys made. Went to ebay and bought 2 remotes for like $30 something each, and all is good.

re trace your steps. Remember when you definately last saw them, then go forward from there.
Check all pants pockets, unde tables, bed, fridges, etc.
When you find you keys have a spare set made and kept in a safe place.

I'm sorry, sonicrunch, but I see no substance in your reply.
ANYWAYS ... to all other members who contributed useful information, I thank you all. I've since actually found my keys (they were in my friend's car). I'm going to make a copy of the keys first thing tomorrow morning before work to prevent another such incident.

I've been in that situation (well i didnt lose my keys, they got stolen along with the car and that was my only key, long story). Easiest way (although a bit more costly than taking the locks out) is to call a mobile locksmith. It'll cost you about $70-80 but you'll have 2 keys in a matter of minutes.

Call 1-800-NISSAN1(647-7261). Thats the number to call to get the key code for your vehicle. They should have it archived there (at least they had my old Altima's). Make sure you have your VIN number handy.

Many locksmiths can use your VIN to create a key for you.. And i would sugest first trying a different Nissan dealership. Maybe the one you bought it from, if its a Nissan Dealership.. not that it matters tho.
I went to the dealership, because my keys were getting pretty worn. i wanted a new one but i didnt want to make a copy of an old worn out key.
Mine is a 95 maxima and they had no problem pulling up my key code for my vin.

This still works. However, I have a 96 and they told me that they don't have key codes that far back so just call a locksmith.

Let me be more specific.
You can still call Nissan and get a key code for your key if you've lost it - that's what still works. The dealer won't do squat for you because Nissan N.A. has to give them the code unless you bought it there.
It doesn't appear to work for anything prior to my 96 - but if you've lost your keys it is certainly worth a try.![kiss](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/kiss.gif)
Mobile locksmith cost me about $200.
