Hood pins on a blk carbonefx hood? should i??

i need some help from the org. on this one. i cant seem to make up my mind. i have a blk carbonfiber hood from carbonefx;with the cf hood it is a b*tch to close with the stock latch, should i get hood pins to make it easier to close?? will it look right on the hood?? will it mess up the hood?? or should i just adjust the stock latch so it could be easier to close. any comments would help.
thnx

Unless you want to have the risk of a shattered windshield, get the hood pins, ask MDeezy; he has some.

You need hood pins so it doesn't fly up at speed.

Hood pins are always recommended when getting a carbon fiber hood because the weight reduction is so great that there is the risk that the hood could fly up at high speeds. Get them.

Adjust your latch, the hood should close easily just like your OEM hood, and definately get hood pins. It doesnt take much for the latch to be ripped away from the fiberglass undersction.

It's easy. Just take your time and it will come out ok. Screw the threaded posts into the car, put a piece of tape lightly on it (doubled over) and slower lower your hood. Tape will then stick to hood and mark where you have to drill. Use a dremel and go put it on a low speed. By trial and error, keep making hole bigger and bigger until posts go through. Piece of cake!

P.S. I like the smell of burning CF.

When I did mine, I installed the pins onto rad. support. Put some painters paint on the tip, then put a dab of white paint on tape that was on the pin, and slowly let the hood rest onto the pin. The paint left a white dot. I then put painters tape on the top surface of the hood to avoid cracking and chipping the clear coat when drilling.
I then drilled from the underside to the topof the hood with a real small bit.
Once the pilot hole was created a slowly enlarged it with a dremel from the top untill the pin fit through.

IMO, not all hoodpins will work. The fancy CF round hood pins look cool, but will be at an angle and not line up with the post. It MIGHT work, but based on my observations (yes, I bought some hoping they would work) I don't think they will work. I went with the classic Sparco ones.

Thanks Dexter. Yes, that's a Stillen SC. Don't rule out doing a 3.5 swap. Why not do a 3.5 upgrade and then SC it? You'd be the man, and the second person to undertake such a project.

Agreed, I also tried to use the locking type and they will not work.
They lock by a T type that fits into the post. With the angle of our hoods the T post would not line up with the cutout on the post.

I'm thinking of doing the swap at 200K (i got 120K right now so I got some time on my hands) I haven't ruled out putting a SC on a 3.5, but the thing is that if I go for 3.5 i'd like to put a NEW (or slightly used with less than 50K miles) engine in it which means $$$ plus I'd like to get a 6-spd tranny swap to go with it (more $$$), but i think a SC 3.5 would be way too much power for a FWD car (theres one that does 11 sec 1/4 mile on the track slip forum). I figure an engine swap would be cheaper than getting a new car so I might as well go for 3.5 (or back to 3.0 depends on price of gas at the time)

I think if I did try it i'd be the 3rd not the 2nd and by the time I do try it I think I'll be the 10th...

I screwed the pins in, then dabbed some grease on the top. Then lowered the hood and the grease made the mark. then drill the holes, and mount the scuff plates. I used a step bit and had no issues.
