Wheel Bearings

Wheel Bearings
I have a 97 GXE 5 speed, lowered susp, rsb, fstb with 300ZX 16 x 7.5" wheels. In the past I have run a 225/50-16 tire. Currently I run a 245/50-16 tire. Over the past several years, I have destroyed several front wheel bearings. I realize that the combination of a big sticky set of tires, high perf suspension, 5 sp trans and more power and torque than stock can't be good for front wheel bearing life.
Does anyone have a reccomendation for a heavy duty/high perf. front wheel bearing or to prolong stock bearing life?

when u put them on do you lube them corectly alot of times that is all that happens. use the best grease u can find and a bearing packer to pack the grease.i just ordered mine from nissan it was rear bearings. and they came pre packed. are your spindals deformed in any way at all mabye causeing the bearings to go bad. or mabye even an allignment issue.

also make sure you torque the axle to the correct spec, too much tightening or too loose will cause premature wear.. also check the camber and offset of the wheels, that will cause excessive wear..

Maybe your driving technique is abusive in addition to the upgraded hardware. There are others w/upgraded hardware and track days and have normal wheel bearing wear (meaning not changing them that often).

Just how many bearings in how many years? I just replaced my front bearing and the old one showed no sign of wear at 160K miles. A good 40K of that was lowered on 235/45/17's.
Like the others have said, it may be something else in the suspension leading to pre-mature wear.
As for recommendation, see if you can get a Timken bearing. They are decent. Or get OEM.

I just replaced my wheel bearing and the guy that replaced it for me said the OEMs are the best to go instead of aftermarket. Probably like others have said, it might be your driving technique.
