Help with DTC P1706
I posted this in the 5th gen, but I wanted to get as many responses as possible. I have a 2000 SE 5-speed. I got a ces light today and had it checked out at Advanced Auto. The result was a P1706. When I got home, I checked it out in the faq section and the description was "P1706 - Park / Neutral Position Switch". Anyone with a 5-speed experience this? What did you do to correct it? I read in the haynes manual and it says that it is a back-up light and neutral postion switch. Someone from the 5th gen said that the ecu uses this signal to operate the back-up light. Makes sense, but when I went to check my back-up light, everything seems to work like it is supposed to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If I am looking at the haynes manual correctly, it is held in by one bolt located on the lower section of the tranny on the driver's side and has a black wire or cable coming from it.
