loud BELT

When i turn my car on i hear my belt screech for a second and then its normal. But when I cut on the AC, the belts begin to scream very loud. I know theres a few belts and I cant make out which one it is. If i Turn off my car and set the AC functions to ON, when i start up the car the belts scream and continue to scream until i run the car for a while. The more i step on the throttle the louder the noise. anyone got suggestions?

There are two belts.

One powers AC/ALT, the other powers the power steering pump.

I would look at just tightening the AC/ALT belt tensioner (stickies) first, but if the belt is frayed or cracked throw a new one on.

May want to consider the tensioner, too. I thought my belts squealed due to moisture. Eventually it dawned on me I got a squeal sound even when dry and warmed up. Got a new tensioner too and everything's fine.
