I donlt know how that myth got started.. I've accidentally gone through puddles before that shower my whole car and everything behind the fog light and nothing ever happens and the filter is still clean after 5 months.

The filter has to be completely submerged to cause hydrolock.. end of story. If that worries you get an AEM bypass valve which is what I plan on doing because of the flooding caused in the wake of the seasonal hurricanes.
