Exhaust Support Question (PIC)

Ok, I just installed my CATTMAN catback (stainless) and the warpspeed Y pipe., The install went rather well. The picture attached shows a circled "bar". The pic has my old exhaust. When I put this bar on my new setup, the pipe rattles on it. Did you guys use this bar with your new setups? Did you put something there like a cloth???
The reason why i wanted to attach this bar is because it sucked the pipes that much closer to the body. (I already bottom out on some speed bumps)

What did you do with this bar?

I THINK I have mine installed. You might see better results if you replace the rubber exhaust hangers with new ones or use a clamp of some sort to tighten them up. Kind of like the ones that hold the air intake to the throttle body.

i completely removed that for my SP2 install. it has been fine since. i would go with what Dubbya said and see if you can't tighten up the hangers at all. the exhaust really shouldn't be resting on the bar or cloth (which would burn?) anyway. tighten up the hangers and if you need to, get a custom hanger put on somwehere else along the pipe to pull it up more.

Mine is removed. With my old custom 2.25" cat-back I had it lowered with some spacers so it didn't vibrate on it, but with my 2.5" cat-back it wouldn't even clear so mine is off.

According to directions that came with my Cattman Exhaust, you should purchase stiffer hangers since this is larger piping than your stock was. I left mine on because, as you stated, it gives the appearance of a more flushly mounted system.

Get stiffer hangers.

I had the under body of my car painted because I drive it in the winter. It helps protect against rust and such. Cost me $75 bucks. Looks crapy, but who is looking under my car anyways?

I did buy stiffer hangers, Like I said, that is the picture of my OLD setup.

So, Overall everyone says, remove bar? I kinda was in a time frame, maybe i can raise it and take another look.

thanks

A lot of aftermarket setups seem to hang a bit lower and espeically with a drop already preset this would make one extra nervous driving over bumps and or bad roads.

I would try to find a way to keep that connected to it can hold your exhaust higher up to the body. Something that can handle ~300degrees of contact heat. Maybe some exhaust sealant (good againt heat) applied onto the bar in the area where it connects with the exhaust pipe. Some type gasket. just thorwing the ideas out.
