How much to install b-pipe?
Sorry for the stupid question but i'm trying to figure out how to go about my little problem. I recently installed the cattman muffler. The muffler bolts were rusty as hell. It took forever to cut through with a dremel and then I still had trouble getting the bolts off since it was rusted so bad that the nuts and bolts were welded to the flanges with rust. I had to cut through the flange and now i'll have to get a muffler shop to re-weld a flange on my stock muffler. I just ordered the cattman b-pipe so I will hopefully have it by next weekend. I took a look at the stock b-pipe bolts and they look even worse than the muffler bolts did. They just look like rusty nubs. So I was thinking of having a local shop install the b-pipe. Any idea on how much I should expect to pay? If anything I was thinking of having them just replace the bolts and then installing the b-pipe myself if that would be cheaper. I hate bringing my car to shops cause I always end up getting bs'd and end up paying way more than I expect to. I usually work on my car myself but I don't feel like laying under it all day cutting these bolts off and screwing another flange up.

I have a local exhaust replace the bolts for me if i can. It's much easier for them since they can heat the bolts up and then they come out easy. They may not have the same size bolts so bring your own. I wouldn't pay over $20.A Family owned business would be better then a chain.

Yeah as Nissan said, call the shop.....we're not really going to be able to tell you how much it will be. You could go have the shop heat the bolts and loosen them up for you. Then go back home and replace the pipe yourself. I wouldnt pay much at all if you're having them loosen bolts...they might do that for free. Also you shouldnt pay too much to have them install. It shouldnt be over $100.

has anyone removed the ypipe on their own? There are two bolts holding it together to the cat. I stripped one of the nut and decided to leave it the way it is. I have a lonely ypipe in my garage.
I have a dremel but affraid to cut the bolt because I believe the cat has the bolt welded to it. bolt..nuts? I hope you know what I'm refering to.
now, how much would it cost for them to replace the nut...I bought the warpspeed and it comes with new nuts. So, if I went to the muffler shop and asked them to replace the rusted nut...it won't cost much? if that could be done, I can go back and install the ypipe myself.

i thought the bolt is welded on the cat? if you cut it..how will you attach it back? I guess I'll take a look at it again.

this one doesn't show any bolt welded to it...but then again..it's aftermarket.

Unfortunately all I have are a dremel and a drill. The muffler ended up taking almost 2 hours to do when it really should have only taken 15 minutes. I cut off as much as I could with the dremel which included having to cut into the muffler flange which ruined it. Then after that the remains of the rusty bolts were stuck in the b-pipe flange so I had to drill those out as well. It's not fun crawling around under a car in FL when it's still near 90 degrees everyday which is why I was going to have a shop take care of it.
