Need HELP W/starter and throttle body
Hello...
couple of days ago I started noticing very rough starts.
Untill sunday, when the car wouldn't start.
Battery was k.
I went and bought a Bosch started, installed it and cleaned throttle body.
Car wouldn't start.
Battery was dead.
So I went and bought a new battery. Still won't start.
I noticed there are two contacts for that black wire on the Bosch starter.
I used the one on the right... slightly upper one.
Is that k?
Please help. Car won't start.
Thx.

I read this but I do not know what you are asking. Is the starter turning over when you hit the key? The starter should have a hot wire going to it and then the ground. Those are the only two wires going to the starter. I think the ground is just a plug and the hot wire slips over the bolt then you screw it down with the nut. I'm really not sure what your question is but you can make sure you have the starter wired correctly. If I were you I would check the car for codes if you were having a hard time starting it...a crank sensor could have taken a dump on you.

Are you referring to the small terminals or the large ones? Usually one will be labeled S or something like that and the other R (at least thats how it is on most GM starters), anyways you want the S terminal. Best thing to do is take a positive wire and touch the other post. You won't hurt anything, and if the starter engages you have it on the wrong post. If you have it on the right post and still have no engagement, check for power at that black wire. No power there is a result of a bad inhibitor switch or ignition switch. I have seen more ignition switches than inhibitor switches (neutral safety). Also check for some blown fuses. HTH

I am afraid that sparkplugs might be flooded too, by now.
I also tried cleaning the throttlebody while I had my intake off. Could that be the cause of car not wanting to start?

Thanks again for help.

There is a crank fuse, only a 5 amp or so located in the interior fuse panel. I had one which was missing (who knows why) and it would crank a while then finally start. but it took a while. Also, the starter does engage with the key? I guess I missread your initial post. Anyways, if that fuse is ok, check for codes and see if any are present. If you disconnected the MAF or another sensor, than it will show up in a code. Good luck

glad you got it running
