Can't figure out what it is. It happens mostly on cold start ups and it cuts out as soon as i get on the gas. As soon as the engine warms up...it stops. What could be cause of this. It sounds like its coming from somewhere in my throttle body when i open the hood. Anybody expirience anything like this?

Mobil1 0w30 or Castrol 0w30 (the one made in germany). The Castrol tends to be a bit heavier. the full synthetic will clean out what is there and flow better during cold startup. people claim Amsoil is as good but i have serious doubts about that company. i am using Amsoil now and it is smoother but that is off topic.

Autozone has Mobil1 on sale right now too so get it while you can.

If your ticking is coming from the throttle body and goes away when you open the throttle then it is like your IACV functioning normally.

Mine ticks too but i dont know if its the same ticking, its the injectors....im getting a new occasional ticking on cold startups by the belts, im guessing another freakin pulley is going bad.

If it is just at cold startups and goes away relatively quickly, it's most likely a timing chain tensioner.

Yeah thats how it is. Is one of those expensive/easy to change? Sounds like it shouldnt bee too complicated.

it is VERY hard. make your life easy. try the autorx first. cost you about $30. if that doesnt fix it, it will still clean your engine so you still win out.

I have the same noise. It's very quiet but I can hear it even when the engine is warm when I open the hood.

I checked the fsm manual and I think it's Evap canister purge volume control valve which is located near throttle body, over the rear coilpacks (you have to remove it from the intake manifold when replacing the rear spark plugs).

According to the manual the valve should move smoothly. If it makes clicking sound could it be stuck or work partially ? I wonder if it's possible to clean it and which cleaner to use ?
