Constant power supply in dash

I`m hooking up my Sirius in my Max, I want to hardwire in the power to something that stays on all of the time. What can I tie into, preferbaly somewhere easy to get at? Thanks.

I use one of the fuses (cigarette lighter) for my radar.

The cigarette lighter is turned on with the key which I have my radar plugged into. I need something that stays on without the key for my Sirius.

Run a cable from the battery into the cabin, constant 12v w/o the key right there.

Another thing, Im not sure if the ignition switch has a live 12v wire from the battery. Check the FSM for the wiring diagram.

Run a wire from the battery? I`m hooking up a less than 1 amp Sirius unit, not a 1000 watt amp. There must be plenty of wires under the dash that have constant power that I can just tap into.

The straight red wires going into the ignition switch are constant +12v (it's either that, or they're red w/ a stripe, but they're fairly large gauge). Or, look at your fuse box, see what is battery powered, and tap into a wire coming from the backside of the fusebox.

Never wire directly to the battery...even if the device you're powering has a fuse built in.. Use the fuse block.

I made that mistake hooking my compressor clutch directly to the battery with a switch in my old Suburban.

Except amplifiers, they must be connected to the battery.

Why not to the back of the head unit?

Any fuse in the fuse box labeled BATT should be hot at all times.
