Well I rearended a Durango this morning

I was in a line of cars waiting to turn onto a major street, I looked at the clock and the Durango stopped but I didnt.. I didnt even have my foot on the gas, it was on the brake the whole time (auto) so it was a slow accident. But I went home and pulled my grill out, and it all looks ok, but the hood is bent up... Just a lesson to be learned I guess.. My question now is, how different would the color be if I bought a same color hood from a salvage yard?

It looked much worse when it first came home, this is after I played with it..

Oh yeah the Durango had a tiny scratch on its bumper, thats all my poor Maxima

i had the same problem. i fixed the hood by adjusting the hood latch the thing where the hood locks you know. just open few bolts there and move that thing lower you can also try to bend your hood straight if the paint is not pealed off.

time for CF if your into that... if not, take the hood to a body shop. they will massage it back to shape for no more than 500 bucks (includes repaint). most places will color match pretty well, remember nothing is perfect, but some come very close. just stay away from maco and youll be all good.

wow^ 500 bucks? personally, i'd look into a junkyard hood...locally my buddy got one for well under 100 bucks if i remember correctly. And getting it painted shouldnt be too much over 100 bucks either. I think I'd kick my self in the *** if i had to spend 500 to get my hood bent back to shape...

Get yourself a new aftermarket hood for around $200, paint will be anothe $200, and you're all set.

chillin014 - who paints a hood for $100? Beside Maaco. With that price, I doubt it would look at least descent. Remember, you get what you pay for. Just my 0.02.

I said OVER 100. I donno, a hood is bigger, yes but the area is pretty much flat. I have my pieces painted professionally thank you very much. I got my door done for like 125 and my trunk for around the same price. I did get a slight discount though.
I would look for a used hood. I just couldn't justify 400 on a new hood when carbon fiber hoods sell for that much.

Thanks everyone

I looked online for a while and found 1 hood (in my area) for $150 in grade "A" condition. I think that seems like a good deal. I hope its the same color as my max.. I will call them tomorrow.

So is $150 a good deal if it really is in good condition?
Thanks again

Check out ebay. There are some hoods on there that you can have them paint for you, but watch out because it might not match exactly since your paint has faded over the years. Or could get one and have a shop color match it for you.
