When I went to start my car this morning, of course, for some strange reason, it didn't start. No lights were left on nothing. A little time went by and my girlfriend came and gave me a jump. After she gave me a jump everything was fine but the emergency brake light was on after I put the e-brake down. I didn't seem like anything was wrong so I went to work. During this I noticed the overdrive button wasn't working. I stopped at Burger King to get some food and I noticed that the E-brake light was off, and the overdrive button was working.

Question, do you have any idea what happened? Causes? I'm clueless on this one. Thanks in advance

What's the heat been like where you live? That and loose wiring maybe a contributing factor to your shifter / ebrake / overdrive problems?

I'd check your battery connections to make sure they're tight and snug and not all gunked up with anything but that yellow stuff to ensure good contacts.

As well, check the water levels in your battery; if you have a leak, they'll be low or empty and that's a bad thing.

Either way, I'd have the battery tested or replaced.

Alternately, it could be the car rebelling against going to Burger King for food.

LOL, that's funny it might be she's been moody lately. Weather wise, it's been the usual upper 80's a lot of rain. Battery connects look good, I'll have to check the water when I get off of work, granted she starts on me. We'll see.

This is a confusing combination of symptoms. I would start by removing the battery terminal connections, cleaning them, and reconnecting. Then go to one of the auto parts stores which gives no-cost charging system tests and have that test made.

The phrase "it didn't start" is vague. Do you mean it didn't crank (no Rrr-Rrr-Rrr) or it didn't fire (no Vroom!)?

It was a click click click, no fire at all. I'll have them take a look at the battery. It could be just time for a new one.

That's exactly what happened to mine when the battery died.

Ok I had a very similar problem about two weeks ago. Go to My post:
HELP not sure what is wrong with my car

What was MY problem was the My battery terminal was not connected that well and the car (Alt) was not charging it. The reason that the Break lights on the dash were on is because of LACK of power for the ABS. So the car knows that because of LACK of power the ABS will fail so it Warns you.

Read over my post and that should give you a better idea of what is wrong with your car and WHY the Lights are on...

Thanks for that post, only thing is, it wasn't my abs light, it was the emergency brake light. Would that still be considered the same thing?

Well I thought I would go out during lunch time, and see if it was just a fluke. It wasn't, it's DEAD. Again. I'll have to go directly to the auto parts store. Any suggestions on batteries? Die hard, Champion, I have no idea.

They are all pretty much the same. Choose the one with the lowest cost per month of warranty.
