I dont have the money to tow it anywhere and i live in the middle of the country. Ive been a gear head my whole life just never had anybody to show me what the hell im doing! the mechanic said i just dont know how to drive the car ????( probably cuz im a women) but as a matter of fact i sure the hell do. I'm hoping one of you guys/gals could give me a few pointers? or tell me how to check the ect connector, ground wires etc..... it would be greatly appreciated!!!!! or any other advice?

Newbe here with two new purchases!

Just bought my 7th Maxima/I30-35. The week before last I bought a 99 GLE with 115k that someone jumped a curb and bent control arms, broke wheels, busted A/C compressor and who knows what else. Runs good tho, and at $750 I think I did ok.
Then this week I stopped by the old mans house down the street for the second time in two years to see if he was ready to sell his 93 Maxima with 126k that has been sitting for at least 3yrs. After giving him $1000, and installing a new battery, it started right up and I drove it home. He gave me the window sticker with it. It's not perfect tho, he replaced one bank of injectors sometime in the past and they do not match the original ones. I do not know if that is the problem, but it runs too rich and has NO power at all. I did a little troubleshooting to rule out o2 sensor and MAF. I am leaning towards biting the bullet and buying a full set of injectors as a base line.

Has anyone tried to replace the "K" frame, AKA sub frame, AKA engine cradle without actually dropping the drivetrain all the way out? I don't see any wreck damage to mine, but I am getting it in a package deal along with all the suspension parts and thought I would replace it in case it is tweaked and I just can't see it with the naked eye.

I need to replace the linkage but not sure how to do it safely?

take your springs off....but seriously dont cheap out on suspension parts. There are plenty of threads on this in the 4th gen section. Search and research if coilovers or a spring/strut setup is best suited for you and your budget.

Low fuel = car runs rough

I'm starting to have a problem when I'm low on fuel (1/4 tank or less) the car starts harder, doesn't have as much power, and/or will stall if I give it too much gas. I can also feel surging when I'm driving 65+... the car runs much better with a full tank of gas but I can still feel some surging when at highway speed and it seems to labor up hills more than it had in the past.

The fuel filter is 3 months old, the in-tank filter was looked at last fall (very clean) when I was having another problem (which turned out to a leaking intake).

Is it time for a new fuel pump? And can anyone recommend a good one? I bought one at O'Reilly's last fall, very noisy, had to put the original back in.

thanks,

dersh.

Make sure the electrical connector is secured tightly.

If that dont work, somone may have tampered wit the door lock assembly. Does the manual Door lock still work from inside the car? If not then u need to take off the door trim and see if anything has been unscrewed or if the lock rod is broken.

Do I need to replace the transmission?

Could be drop resistor, shift solenoid, or torque converter. Check FSM for how to troubleshoot.

Sounds like your starter is going...again. U need a jump.

As far as idling, clean your TB and MAF per how tos. CHeck the Idle air control valve (IACV) resistance within specs.

SEARCH. There is so much info all u have to do is look.

That being sd, certain parts u can cheap out on...suspension IS NOT one. If u gonng lower the car safely and reliably..the cheapest is KYB-Gr2 with maxspeed springs. The next best option is tokico blues kit.

need new headlights

hello! i need advice!

we have a 98 maxima, and its headlights really suck. we got it used in 03, and even then the headlights were weak and didnt shine far. the low beam shines only a few meters ahead and its very faint and yellow.

i dont know much about cars. all i know is what i learned from playing gran turismo 3 and 4 back in highschool. however, my dad always maintains and repairs the maxima by himself.

so i guess i need new headlights. i want really bright ones that shine far with a white color, and shine in a way that we can see on the sides as well, not just whatever is straight ahead. all i need is just the function of having bright headlights in order to see the road and pedestrians!

my friends 07 civic has real nice headlights that came stock, so thats what im aiming for.. that or better. i dont want to spend too much money on them, like around 200$ max maybe if thats possible.

so could someone recommend me good headlights that fit my needs?

Actually this was a low level of the transmission oil.
It leaks underside the transmission after I traversed a bunch of iced snow.

Hello Maxima.org people!

Now. My 95 max 5sp (237k kms) will enter some kind of cycle where the engine will stumble and die unless I open go WOT for a couple of seconds and then keep the rpms up. The car will just start lurching spontaneously. If I go near the redline there's quite a large stumble. If it does happen to stall, It will take 5-30 seconds of solid cranking and WOT to get it started again. When it does this, the smell of gas is strong and occasionally quite a bit of smoke will come from the exhaust. This will happen randomly and unpredictably from several times per drive or not at all for several weeks for the past 10k kms of the 20k kms I've owned it. I always run 91-94 octane, however my dad use to run 87 when he owned the car for several thousand kms, but did have this issue. The car has no mods at all. It is in need of an oil change, but has been doing it long before my last one. No CELs have come up (well the one on the dash, I don't know how to check the other one?). Have seafoamed it through the brake booster hose only, used a spray throttle body cleaner injected after the MAF, and ran a fuel system cleaner a couple of times though the fuel. Recent plugs.

I have let the gas run dangerously low a couple of times, haven't tried cleaning the MAF, the egr or checked the whole fuel system for that matter. Any suggestions before I start trying to change random parts?

I am going to take a day to try cleaning the MAF, TB, IACV and EGR. Could my CEL be burnt out?

I have a 95 max my Ac stopped working. Now i'm testing my compressor with the battery and all i'm hearing is a clicking noise. My question is, should the compressor start turning when i'm testing it ? and if its not turning is the compressor not working?

Your compressor is run by the engine using a belt. And uses a electric clutch to engage. That is most likely the clicking you are hearing.

Get your freon checked. If it low you gotta figure out where it went. Most of the time it is either the coils, or one of the schrader valves is leaking. If it ain't the valves, or one of the lines it is most likely a coil.

My turn flashers recently stopped working in my 1992 Maxima SE. And i mean completely stopped working, no tick noise from the flasher unit or anything.

--- Which brings my to my question---

I have spent the past two days looking for the flasher relay unit and can't find it for the life of me. I purchased a Haynes repair manual, and the picture they show in the manual as being the flasher relay is no where to be found under my dash. I've looked all over various Nissan forums and website and have found quite a few different answers as to "WHAT" the flasher unit is and "WHERE" it's located!

You are asking the question in the wrong forum. This is a 4th gen forum from 95 to 99. You need to post in the 3rd gen forum. Also, using the search tool is your friend.

You are posting in the wrong section. Look in the 4th gen classifieds. If your flex section got a hole, take it to an exhaust shop and they will replace the flex section and will cost much cheaper. Any reason you need the entire y-pipe?

New, you are looking at the dealership. If I were you, I would get the carpet used, throw it in the laundromat washing machine and it comes like new. As for the board, go to your local home depot and get a piece of 1/4 or 1/2 plywood. Works out much cheaper.

Couldn't find the answer if there is one...

I've got a 98 Maxima the clutch just went out on, I've got a new clutch set and a mechanic who is doing the work for me, he recommends however replacing the flywheel or at least buying a new insert.

The car has over 200k miles on it. And the flywheel probably does have some considerable wear on it due to this. However I'm wondering what my best course of action really is? Contact a dealer and order a whole new flywheel? Buy the insert? Resurface? Do nothing?

Thanks in advance.
