Why is it so hard to find an org member in seattle that has done a vq35 swap? I want to swap my stock auto engine out and swap in a MT vq35, but I don't know much about engine work like how to work on them and don't even know where to begin. Does anybody in the seattle area know much about this? I have money to do all of it just don't have the dang knowledge about it!! Seattle swaper's help me out here!
plz someone help me i desperatley need a vehicle idk what im gonna do i can work all weekend i just dont know how to reattatch the wiring harness and vacuum lines? any scematics or wiring diagrams anyone could point me toward would be greatly appreciated
Please Help Me!!! One night i was driving my maxima and everything was great. The next morning i went to start it up and she wouldnt start! The fuel pump is good, i replaced the fuel filter, spark is good, i check the power to the injectors with a noid light tester. They do not pulsate, i replaced the cam sensor and both crank sensors, but she still wont start. My next though is the computer. Its a '99 Maxima GLE. It only has 95K on it so i dont understand why the computer would blow out. Any suggestions???
so i found out that i my e-brake does not work. meaning that when i pull it, the back tires still spin as if it isn't engaged. guy at the inspection place told me this without even looking (which amazes me). so my question is where can i get a good brake kit (calipers, rotors, pads, fluid) for my 95 SE??
also my whole center console doesnt work (clock and bose). when I bought it (3 weeks ago) it didnt work and i assumed it was because the car is 14 years old. So how would i go about fixing the clock??? as for the stereo...would it be wise to buy an aftermarket or just get a different HU?
thanks for the help

Have you done the obvious and checked ALL of the fuses? The Bose is known for having issues, as well as the clocks. Search, you'll find all you need to know on the issue(s).
see id love to go out and buy a new engine but iv allready spent a ton on parts and bought the car for $1800 i have very little money left and i need this car back up and running now because if i dont i cant get to my job or school. now is this even a feasible project to switch the 94 motor into the 95 or is this a waste of effort
Are you sure it's a 3rd gen engine? VG or VE? It should've been extremely obvious that it wouldn't bolt right in, they look absolutely NOTHING alike.

its a vq30(de) engine so it was a direct drop in but the wiring harness's are different because the 94 is obd1 and the 95 is obd2 so is there any written out diagrams on this kind of swap or will it be more of a guess and check for my mechanic and i?

You must have incorrect info. VG and VE were in 3rd gens 89-94. All VQ30s r 4th gen compatible, even the ones that that r in the 5th gens and r OBD II. 95s OBD II is just in a different place, cant recall were off the top of my head
hi everyone i am new here mmm i want to buy hids for my 97 maxi however i see that the ones i want are bi-xenon kool 10k btw..but soon or later ill be buying the black housing headlights and i see that they have 2 bulbs instead of one like my stock maxi so what should i do i mean i would like to have the hid b4 having the new housing but than ill have an extra bub so please some one educate me on this ...ohh and please dont black out on me for the glare with the stock housing i already know
Unless you mean an early build '95 model, in which case what exactly makes you think that it's 'OBD-I'?
Have you given any thought to actually diagnosing the problem, rather than throwing parts at it? It could be a frozen cable, caliper, handle, etc. Or, it could be as simple as needing an adjustment; the parking brake control system is comprised of many moving parts. Moving parts wear, the provided adjustment can compensate for said wear.

Ok so about the radio and clock. How do you know if the fuse is bad or not?? I looked at it and it looks the same as the fuse for the horn (meaning same type of wear). I am going to replace it just to be absolutely sure that its not the fuse, but now my question is where do i get said fuses?? I checked autozone and they dont have it in my area so whats next??

Hi everyone,
I'm getting CELs again... but this time it happens only when the fuel tank is almost full. I tank to the cap, drive 80-120 km and the CEL lits. 3 codes - 0704 (EVAP Control System Pressure Sensor), 0903 (EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve), 0707 (rear heated o2 sensor). I reset the codes and they won't show up till I tank again. When I open the cap after those 80-120 km there's a long 'hissss' from the tank (~2 sec). The same CELs show up everytime (after tanking) - 4x occurrence so far.
Any hints? I've searched. Can the tank cap be the issue here?
Thanks,

yea its a late 94 model which i bielve makes it a early 95 make. and im posotive its a vq30(de) motor they look exacly alike and it dropped right in on the mounts and everything. and i know its OBD-1 because the sensors ae slightly different as are the wiring harness pls there no OBD-2 connector by the fuse box on the drivers side in the parts car. we got it fully installed today and most of the connectors plugged in and turned there key we got it to make some noise but it wont turn over and theres no spark from the spark plugs. i cant figure it out we sat there for 2 hrs tuggin our brains for the answer and nothing so im going to hgave to pull up the wiring diagrams and see what i can find

'95s don't have an OBD-II connector on the driver's side, it's down by the ECU. I can guarantee you that the donor car is OBD-II compatible, it is not 'OBD-I'.
Have you tested and swapped over both CKPS' and the CPS? Made sure everything's getting power as it should?
You say most of the connectors plugged in, what did you do about the ones that didn't?
Beck Arnley vs 5th Gen Clutch
My clutch is finally slipping at 194K miles on 1999 SE. When you shift and accelerate, it is not catching and rpm needle revs high. I know everyone loves the 5th Gen for replacement. Just curious about any thoughts on Beck Arnley Clutch Kits. My mechanic thinks they are great and good OEM replacement although he is not opposed to 5th gen.
Thanks
Thanks
okay so i put the high temp rtv the black one last night. started it up today at 12 and it was still leaking..... i cleaned all around the VC the leak looks like its coming from next to the VC . here...
1997 Maxima: Problem Getting into gear(video)
Alright so I bought a Maxima off a friend about two weeks ago because he was having problems with the transmission, so far I have heard all kinds of things from different garages and friends about what could be wrong, but I am hoping I will be able to get this thing running again soon.
A quick recap, originally I could get it into 1st 2nd not 3rd, kinda 4th, not 5th not reverse. When it was in first or second though I was able to move the shifter left and right as if the car was in neutral.
I brought it to a garage who told me they think it is the shifter rod, and now I can get into "2nd" and reverse, but pretty much not anything else, kinda 5th but I don't really know.
Here is a video I made explaining the problem.

Let me know what you guys think if possible
Thanks and I hope to see you guys around the forums once I have a maxima that runs

First of all im assuming your implying this is a 5 Speed.. How deep is your pocketbook first off? Cause you can take a few directions including but not limited to... Dropping in another 5 Speed, dropping in a 6 Speed, re manning the one you have yourself, or bringing it to a shop who claims they'll fix it right.
So How technically oriented are you? can you turn a wrench or open your wallet?

Well I am not a mechanic but I have done some bsic stuff with my car and had no problem yet, brakes, CAI, stereo, electric locks, thermostat, and I change the oil every time. This one seems to be abit out of my comfort zone but I would love to learn it. I found someone selling an accidented 4th gen (but different year) maxima 5speed for a pretty good price, they they claim has a working transmission and shifter (if that happens to be the problem). Their maxima was actually from canada so there is a chance itll be the lsd tranny but I'll have to check. (While I am in canada myne came from Utah)
I think the 6 speed would be a bit too much for me as this would be my first job dealing with a transmission, but if it is basically the same ammount of work, then bring it on

97 MT 00vi swap mods are below. im using the 5th gen IACV but i really dont think its working at all anyway.. kinda hovers around 9-1.2k when idle so whatever..
first cold morning so far after my swap, about 40degrees. and for the first time ever, my car stalled, it hasn't done it since and ive started it aprox 7 times since then. it stalled 2 times untill i got irritated and feathered the gas a bit and it ran fine since.
is this a direct result of running the 5th gen IACV you think? if so ill hop on over to AM.
CODES; IACV, and thats its. so it really points to it but i just wish to make sure before posting a thread.
Cliffs; Can an IACV problem cause a stalling on a cold morning start up
oh btw ignore the part of my sig about the CEL, thats no longer true for me....

Hey, I just bought a 1998 nissan maxima yesterday. Anyway, I have no clue about customizing or doing any work on cars or really anything about cars but I am living with my uncle and he will help. My question is, what is the best/personally recommended cold air intake I should go with? i have been looking and googling for a while and can't seem to find any real reviews on any of them to know which one is better than any of the others. I am trying to mainly increase HP as much as possible..so also any other add ons you would recommend besides a cold air intake, please let me know. Thankyou.

Unless you just want sound, stay stock.
If you want power adders, then search. There are, again, thousands of threads on this subject.
Undoubtedly the best mod you can do short of FI is a VQ35 swap.

It's likely just the oil pan seal to the RMS weeping. It's not too hard to replace, just have to drop the upper pan.
Have you looked up the meaning to any of the codes? The codes tell you what is wrong, it just takes some reading and common sense to figure out how to fix them.
Seriously: http://boredmder.com/ecucodes/
Dude its in the thread right below the one you posted in in CAPS
i may be a newbie but i have prior maxima knowledge i checked it all it all started last week wen i sprayed engine degreaser on ma engine and i sprayed the whole thing but wen i started the car it died so now my MAF is gone and the car needs to be started with me pushin the gas and the car wont shift to any other gear 97 gle AT
Prices vary incredibly from person to person in the same shop, much less different shops, different cities, different states. You'll get different quotes for paint prices, shop supplies, taxes, fees, etc.
Have you not called up a local body shop to get quotes? Seems like the logical thing to do to me

Have you tried asking...a professional?

If you're expecting help, it would be a good idea to be more forthcoming with your issues.
'Just died' meaning the engine died? ...you weren't checking the codes with the engine running, right? That's not how you do it.
