I just bought a 99 Maxima SE.
The guy who I bought it from told me that only 50 were made in the bright red color I have, one for each state.

Now, my BS sensors were going off, but I asked a few friends and some said that its possible, some said that its a hoax.

Whats the truth?

actually not really. The red is the rarest color for the max. Not sure it was only 50 tho.

I was considering getting it painted neon green or black, but now I don't know.
I mean, if its nothing thats gonna increase the value of my car then I don't really mind repainting it a color that more suits my personality.

why would you want to paint it? It's still a rare color. And why pay all that money to change the paint? Specially to neon green....

Well

1) The florida sun has faded the paint immensely. Its still red but the hood and the trunk are fading fast.
2) The previous owner did not take care of the paint. He had a tree that had branches that hung over his driveway. The result was a scratched roof and hood/trunk.
3) Neon green is one of my favorite colors

and how many million black cars on the road? Doesn't make black a bad color. If he wants to paint it then go for it. But as Kyle00 said, don't do that to your max. Neon green is for a ricer. Not for a maxima.

wow if you're doing a skyline kit then paint it neon green. Gonna rice it out anyway so paint it neon green with some neon purple stripes. Should accent the skyline kit well.

Just got an estimate for the paint work, and I'm just gonna keep it red. But for the record I'm 19.

Why?

Dude, if you paint your rare, elusive, & oh-so-amazing crimson blaze SE-L a different color I will drive to florida and personally kick your ***. Def. more than 50 ,made, but I've only seen 3 personally, and one was an undercover state trooper

An aluminum flywheel and y-pipe raised my mpg about 4 mpg. Checking for a knock sensor ghost code, and doing a tune up is a good move also.

I promise the only color that's being painted is its stock red! But yeah, its my first car so I want to make it nice.

But what's a knock sensor ghost and how much is the aluminum flywheel and y pipe

My max is at the garage right now, the last owner didn't get it checked up on, so I have to get a lot of stuff replaced.

So I've been searching around on how to get rid of my rear O2 code. I'm running a 95 ecu on a 97(5speed) The only thing that I found was a thread were dandymax ran a wire from pin 107 to 105 on the ecu and grounded pin 112. I just want to confirm if that is all I have to do. The thread I believe was reffering to the ecu after it had been programmed by TS. I figured it wouldn't make a difference, but just wanted to check if it was all I had to do.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that the O2 sensor is new. I had to take it to emissions in September and I really need to get the code gone asap!

Uhhhmmmm, did you not read the description. For one the guy who is selling it doesn't even know who makes it. Second buy at your own risk? That should be enough for you to walk away.

Because it's sketchy and you're buying at your own risk. I wouldn't buy it from them.

I just bought the car, and im strapped for cash.
[im a college student working two jobs]

But the mods I have so far are just a GPS and an iPod dock cause the stock clarion cd player is broken. But those arent really mods. That and a high performance air filter.

As far as shaving the stock one, how would I go about doing such a thing?

If that's the case, leave the flywheel modding for later.

What would you suggest be my first mod?

Im trying to find something that will save me money in the long run and increase visual appeal but at the same time won't cost me an arm and a leg.

Im a n00b but i've already convinced a few people to switch to maximas for their next cars, including my girlfriend who comes from a long line of chevy drivers.

well if you're a visual freak mod wouldnt you go with a visual mod? Kit? or what not. You said the paint was awful. I would recommend not doing anything. Saving money, make sure maintenance is great and save for a paint job. If you have bad paint and go visual it'll still look bad. If you're broke then don't waste you money yet.
