Oh noez i gots the codez
My SES light came on today so I went to Autozone.
I got 2 codes
P0420
Catalyst Efficiency
Below Threshold
(Bank 1)
And a knock sensor code
My question is where is bank 1?
And autozone has them for 90 bucks OEM bosch one. I found another OEM bosch one online for 75 bucks shipped. I don't think they get any cheaper than that do they?

I have those same exact codes and I am glad that I am not the only one. I wouldnt recommend replacing the 02 sensor unless you have poor gas mileage or performance....heres my story:
I got my car in January and drove it for 1500 miles before the SES light came on with 0420 and 0325 (KS). I had autozone reset the codes too see how fast they came back. A month and 1000 miles later the SES came back with the same two codes. 500 miles later it shut off by itself and has been off for the last 500 miles. I was told it was the main cat and/or the 02 sensor.
This code has me puzzled to say the least. If I were you....wait it out, it is not a bad code.
Oh, and the KS and harness are in my glove box waiting to be installed by KRRZ350....he lives in Middleboro and offers a great deal on KS labor on 4th gens!

Yeah I reset my ECU about 200 miles ago, and the SES light came back. With the same codes. And I did noticed that the car was acting different. It doesn't seem to drive as well as it did before. It feels like its choking on something...
I think I am going to buy the o2 sensor online for 75 bucks off of oxygensensors.com
But I am not sure which o2 sensor it is still

it only a $1 and ends tomorrow!!

Catalyst Efficiency
Below Threshold
doesnt this mean ur cat is shot and needs to be replaced, not the o2's ?
the ecu detects the difference in efficiency between the upper two o2's and compares that to the lower (downstream) o2 after the cat, if the ratio is out of spec then it tells u ur cat is shot and emissions fail.
is this not true ?

It's always possible that it's shot, besides you mention that your car is lacking performance and feels like it's choking on something...hummmm.......
It's easy enough to check with a vacuum gauge (in bad enough cases, reading will drop after several seconds or upon some revs) or by unbolting the y and taking a peak in there.........

wow.. i guess you need explaining in your own words. but yea. 0420 is a cat fault. but generally aged o2 can/ have been the cause.
because the 0420 happens when the data from the front 02 and the rear 02's are out of specs. the rear o2 is design to measure how well the cat is doing its job. now if you have a front o2 that is ageing it will give you the wrong info and return that info will not be remotely close to what the rear 02 needs therefore causing the CEL 0420 to show up because the car thinks the cat is not doing its job but in fact that the cat is fine, but the 02 is giving out wrong info normally due to age.
most of our cars are nearing 10 years old and well frankly o2 are being aged. It might be a lazy 02 where it works and doesn't work at times but you ECU cant really pick that up so it won't throw a fault for it.
