Clutch sensor starting issues

Hello, I have a 5spd Maxima and from time to time, when I clutch in to start the car, there is no response ( no starter noise, nada, only lights turning on the dash)...

I jiggle the key thinking it's the Ignition Switch, but it's not..
I press/release the clutch a few times and eventually, it starts..

I was wondering, is there a clutch sensor that needs to be replaced or should I look elsewhere for this problem?

Thanks

It is actually a switch, not a sensor. It is located under the dash near the clutch pedal. It must be depressed by the clutch in order to allow the starter to work.

It is not much, a few bucks or so. But you must test it to see if that is indeed your problem. The switch should be tested with an ohmmeter for function. It is a simple two conductor switch, it is either on on off depending on whether is is depressed or not.

Please be sure that you are pushing the pedal all the way down to the floor. I know too many people that complain about similar symptoms because they don't push their clutch in all the way. And yes, in this case the sensor is working properly.

Just for your info, Make sure you try holding the clutch and turning the key several times. I have the same problem but it isn't the clutch switch. I think my problem is the ground on the starter.
