this is exactly the type of thing that donating and having the search function is so helpful for. this has been covered a million times but since it appears you have done some searching im gonna help you out. i have no idea if it's in the stickies but I bet it's in there somewhere.
the easiest way is to tell is to pop your hood and look at the vin plate attached to the firewall. if the transmission code on that plate ends in a V, your car came with an LSD from the factory. if it ends with an A, your car came with an open diff from the factory. the other easy way is to get down on the ground and look at the driver's side of the transmission. if the axle seal is big (about 3-3.5" in diameter) your car has a VLSD, if it is smaller (about 1.5" in diameter) you have an open diff.
if your car was purchased in the USA when it was brand new it has an open diff, since no VLSD 4th gens were sold in the united states, only VLSD I30s were.
the likelyhood of you having a VLSD is extremely low unless your car came from canada or some random person in the past decided to change the transmission which is very unlikely unless they were an enthusiast, and even then, it's pretty unlikely.
but yeah, go pop your hood and take a gander at your driver's side axle seal and you'll be able to tell.

I was really surprised when I went to replace the CV axles on my '97 Max. I always assumed that it didn't have VLSD because it wasn't an I30 and was automatic, but low and behold, yep, I have VLSD. The cool stuff you find out once you start pulling things apart.
