I was just thinking maybe i could shave my antenna and put one of those rubber antennas on the back of my roof, like on the lexus is300. Do i have to do any kind of wiring to put the antenna on my roof, and is it possible to get my antenna shaved off ? What do you guys think of this idea ?

Yeah, it looks pretty cool. A guy here in Atlanta has it done. I'm not sure about any of the wiring issues though.

RE: Rubber Antenna...

I have seen a Maxima with that before. It looks okay, not as nice as on the smaller cars I'm used to seeing it on. Maybe because this one was a little taller and not tilted as much, but it just didn't appeal to me. I asked the guy how hard it was, and he said it really wasn't, the hardest part being the running of the antenna wire to the roof. Oh, and he didn't shave his antenna, but it was not functional (wouldn't come out). Just trying to help .

i got a quote to shave my antenna off and it was nearly $700 because the guy said you HAVE to repaint the fender, the back door, bumper and trunk for it to blend or it wont look good. i just said, right.. thank you for your time!

Well my wife forgot to turn the radio off and she ran my car through a gas station car wash all without my permission. I was one ****ed off SOB. Anyways the antenna snapped at the bottom. So I ripped it out and kept the top two sections and just set them inside the housing. There is also an antennae installed in your back window. It works almost as good without the power antenna, so I bought a non-functional antennae like the VW Jetta and it looks hot, and I can still tune all the stations in with ease.
Just peel and stick.
