yea, i expected a lot of good reviews on almost every brands,.. but, if i hear same thing alot, it must mean thats really really reliable. So far, I think JL is the choice. Price wise, i can handle it. I was looking for woofs that does 300 and higher watts, and JL seemed to be the one with good price tag with it.

OK guys, I have finally decided. I will get KICKER solobaric S8L7 subwoofer. THis guy has 450watts(more then what i wanted --300w--) and its not too big. I can get a decent price for it as well. How does $175 sound? That includes shipping.

Now, I need help with a amp that will go with this. I want a decent 300watt or higher amp (preferably mono amp because I'm only buying one sub) thats not going to cost me a leg... I was looking at some kenwood amps, but please do help me find another one if you guys can. THANKS!

zr240 bridged gives 300watts according to the specs. the price is nice, but i think i'mma need little more than 300 watts since the sub will be 450w..

keep in mind that kicker gear is underrated...U will get more than 300 watts out of that amp...If u need a quality amp cheap mail me...I know a guy selling hifonics amps that put out 400watts at 4ohms for 125 shipped new...I had one but i just sold it...Pretty nice amp especially for the price...

See, I told you that I just went to a Kicker training secession and that the amp actually pushes out more than what they rate. I know for a fact that you cant get a zr240 for 125 or less so give this guy above me an email.

wow, thats really cheap. how good is that brand(hifonics)?? how much wattage would 2ohms would give? Is that a mono amp? If the wattage is too much (more than 500w) it will blow up my kicker..

I have got 2 Rockford Fosgate HE 12's with a Rockford Fosgate 360.2. Sounds really good in my Max, I am happy with it, it is like my 4th set of speakers.

JL Audio

I have two JL 15 w6's powered by Crossfire cfa-1000d for low end. I have JL Audio VR-600CS up front and VR-600CX in the deck, powered by Crossfire cfa-404s. Apline source unit, Apline 12 Disc changer. With all wiring and Alumapro 5 farad cap, I spent about $3,000.00.

As for the Kickers, I had a set of comp 12's in my old lady's Grand Am(pro install) and they sounded like trash. Go JL. Bang for the buck, High quaility(spell) easy to deal with, and willing to anwser any question's you have. I love my JL's.

Sounds like your (pro install) needed there as* kicked...cause I know kickers installed *correctly* would not sound like trash....I know there might be better subs but to say they are trash are too funny...I've had Kicker comp 12inchs forever...I also had up to four in my chevy back in 96 and you talking about decent sound...I've seen every sub and heard good things...from eclipse and soundstream...but I went back to my 12inch Kicker comps in a sealed box

Trash may have been a bit harsh.I agree that, that so called 'pro installer' needs his as* kicked. The kicker's in comparision to the boston pro 12's i had, JL 12 w6's i had, and the Soundstream Mules my old lady has know, the kickers just don't perform. In my opinion. No offense to what you have, I just didn't like them.

Ok, look in my sig for what I have. Im hitting mid 140's db's with that and am about to get another DX700 amp. Should be in the low to mid 150's. If you dont like that much bass then dont get the Kicker Solo Baric L7's, but if you can tell me a comperable model from JL or whoever I'd be impressed, to my knowledge and my experience at Bass competitions Kicker is the ONLY way to go. If you want clarity go with a sealed box, if you want loud as all #ell go with a vented box. Keep in mind that Im hitting this hard with a SEALED box! Kickers only sound like trash if you have a S****y amp running them or not enough power. If that is the case then you are the only one to blame for the bad sound quality.

I dont have one of mine yet, but go to www.jlaudio.com and look at the stealthboxes. It has a couple pics of it there. There are quite a few great subs out there, and JL is one of the better brands. PLus the quality of the stealthbox is impossible to find anywhere else. It's a half inch thick fiberglass, that is solid, heavy, and dead. The 10W6 ( the best of their lines until the W7 was placed on the market) handle a ton of power, and begs for more. Plus no one else offers anything like it for the Maxima, and if you want high quality bass, and need your trunk, then the stealthbox is tough to beat. It's main drawback is the price. at around $350 to $400 it's more than I think you said you were looking for. If you look at forum.elitecaraudio.com , there has been ALOT of talk about a sub called the Shiva. Inexpensive, very high quality sound, plus high output. Something to check into...

When i was interested in buyin JLs, I noticed the stealthbox for maxima as well. I was very interested in buying those. However, if I was to buy a new car in the future, then I would need to buy a new box. So I decided to go with sealed kicker solobarics L7 instead. Right now, i'm looking at a $280~~$320 mtx amp, but thats way too much for me. I still havent decided on which amp to get. I really want to spend around $150~~$260ish on 300watts and higher amps. Help me out with some suggestions..

Are u seriously hitting those numbers legal, on the dash ?
anywyas, you DO know that are many brands out there that will destroy kicker subs in every imaginable category right?
I hate it when people becaome "well-known-brand" zealots and assume that nothing can touch their gear... But, i'm assuming since u do compete that you really dont believe "KICKER is the only way to go for competing etc..."

I heard the Diamond subs, they are pretty good! The bass nots are very clear and do not distort when push to its max. I'm thinking of returnig my JLs and gettin the Diamond subs. But they cost $240 for a 10".

I dont know about the 150's yet, but Im assuming(and I know that is bad to do but...)that if I double the power to each sub that is roughly where I will hit. And I do know that Kicker is not the only nor always the best brand for competitions...but he isnt looking for subs for competitions. He wants sound clarity that also hits hard. I know there are subs out there that can beat Kickers...but for the price, Kickers beat the #ell out of JL in competitions, and sound quality.

Have any of you'll had any experience or heard anything about Car Toys as in their installs and service? Actually, I thought that JBL amps were a POS, but guys on www.sounddomain.com say good stuff about it. MTX amps are good, but you said pricey.

The Diamond subs are definately an Audiophile sub, I love how they sound. Only problem is they need a huge box, and I know the 12's require a minimum of 400W RMS. Most don't want to spend the money to put one of these in their car, and they don't want to give up the room, but they are damn clean subs.

As for the sub I prefer, I like Solo-Barics. I have 2 of the older round ones and they really hit. . . I wouldn't trade them for anything else I have heard for the price.

Re: comp vr's

Would solobaric s8L7 450watt be loud enough? I haven't heard it, but hope it hits hard. Even though its an 8" sub... I don't want to spend extra $50bucks for 10"... I'm guessing solobaric s10L7 (600watts) will rattle my trunk, and thats exactly what I don't like, rattling trunks..
