i have stillen x-drilled rotors and am looking for opinions on whicH brakes i should buy... porterfield and axxis are the two brands i'm looking into right now.. which pads are the best to get? i have heard many diferent opinions on the levels of brake dust the pads produces so i'm kinda lost there... also i don't want to be harsh on the rotor...
also what are the prices of each?? and what about the greens and reds brand of brake pads...
i do not want noisy brakes.....

I just bought the Porterfields. Noticeable difference. Great bite. The web site says that there is no adverse affect on the rotor wear. Take that for what it's worth. I like them and would recommend them. As for dusting, I see no noticeable difference from the oem pads. Oh well. I care more about the performance.

I think it was some where around $80 for the fronts and $70 for the rear. The pricing can be found on the site. Let them know you are with maxima.org. They will give you a discount.

good luck.

dude, get portefiers, I have never had them but I've had AXXIS JUNK (that piece of $**** brakes), they suck ***, they dust like there is no tomorrow, in 3 days I have VERY noticeble dust, and in a week it looks like they are black, and I'm fairly easy on the brakes during normal driving, second of all they squiel like hell it's annoying as hell, and also, they didn't decrease the braking distance, I think they are the same as stock, also, find AndyXXL's posts, he's had the biggest problem with them also, very similar if not worst then mine

good luck

Re: brakes

What is the price difference between the stock nissan pads and the Porterfields. I'm going to need new pads in the next week or so. Thanks,

Nathan

Stillen carries Axxis Metal Matrix, which they call "Stillen Metal Matrix." EBC greens are more appropriate for Maximas. EBC reds are racing pads...if you use racing pads on the street, your stopping distances will be worse that stock! I have the Porterfields and they are fine, not a huge improvement over stock, but they do dust a little less.
