My 95 Max has this rattling noice coming from the bottom of the chassis near the rear seats. It only does this after the car has been driven on Highway or the car is running hot. It sounds like metal to metal. Its more noticeable when turning right. Anyone with Any ideas? I've checked everything with nothing.

Eh?

This may sound stupid, but if you've thoroughly examined the underside of the car, which yu should do first, then check your spare tire area. You might just have something rolling around in there. This drove my girlfriend nuts for awhile untill i fuggured it out for her.

Also, check the clearance of exhaust pipes

with the heat shields. More likely if you have upgraded the b-pipe of muffler.

1) Spare tire. Is it securely fastened? Remedy: tighten.

2) Jack and jack tools. Securely fastened? Remedy: tighten.

3) Exhaust system. Annoying rattles can come from some part of the exhaust
system hitting an adjacent part of the car. The exhaust system is mounted
on rubber hangers, giving it some freedom to move about. When the engine
is cold, grab the tailpipe and wiggle it vigorously up and down, side to
side. See if this exercise can replicate the unwanted sound. Remedy:
change the hangers and/or bend the metal fingers which fasten to the hangers
in order to increase the clearance between exhaust pipes and car body.

4) Muffler. It is unusual, but possible, for one of the baffles inside the
muffler to break loose. This metal piece will then move about on it's own,
rattling and banging as it goes. Remedy: replace muffler.

I had the same problem which drove me crazy
for a while. Sounded like metal to metal.
Thought it was the exhaust. Until I found out
the jack was tightened down all the way in the
trunk. Try checking that out.

weird noises?

I have this noise coming from my maxima--and I am pretty sure it occurs in a good majority of the max's. When the car is warm and has been driven awhile in the front--I am not sure if it is the heat shield--there is this clicking/clanking noise. Is this normal or am I the only here? I have heard it from other maxima's on the road--when I am next to them at a light or stop and I can hear that clicking noise. when the car cools down though, it disappears...

anyone?

=)

I had a similiar problem. My sister told me that she heard some kind of noise, but that's when I started up the car, or when I had the car in park. Didn't happen all the time, just a few times. Not sure what the heck it was.

Yup Yup Yup..

I only hear this noise when the car's been warmed up, like after being on the highway. I checked the spare tire, heat shields, jack etc. and they are all fine. I thought it was my big 2.5" piping but there's no rubbing or loose parts. Man, its driving me nuts.

jerryrig a harness and strap yourself under the back of the car, then have a friend drive you down some back roads. Seriously though, if its really driving you that crazy you may want to climb inthe trunk and have someone drive your around. You could prob get a better idea of where it is.

Actually that sounds like a good idea. But I think its coming from my tranmission. Why would I hear it only after its been warmed up? I wonder what part would come loose in the transmission to make that kind of noise. I have an auto with VB.
