not too hard, but you may have to use a spring compressor.... Jack up the car, unbolt the top/bottom bolts. The top I think are 2 12 mm in the rear, and the bottom is some huuuuggggeee thing. My chilton's isn't here. For the front, get the metric equivalent of 7/8 for the top bolts if you have a 97+ with the rounded nut things, otherwise it's a different bolt size...well...anyway, compress the springs and release the tension, then take the strut apart (make sure number the parts, and also label the orientation of top/bottom if you don't have a complete strut assembly to look at!!!). Wrap the whatever-you-use around the springs' tops and bottoms. Put stuff back together. Bolt in struts. Put car on ground. Torque struts. Test drive.

Bet you thought a gurl wouldn't post this.
WOW Lime you are getting more and more impressive everyday! I don't care what the others have said about you. They are all nimcompoop!

If you have H&Rs you dont' need a spring compressor to take them apart.

Ok I did it this weekend … The gray sleeve that was on the bottom of the spring was torn. I saw it was where it was making metal to metal contact. So I place the rubber hose on the spring where it was making contact. Well I still hear it not as bad as before but its still there, but now I am hearing squealing noise from the hose. this is driving my nuts. What next?"

a squealing??? are you shure it's from the hose? I wrapped the first 3.5 coils, then put a bit of the hose at the very end of the springs...no noises.

Ms. Lime girl, are you coming to the Woodbury commons meet? I want to see exctly how you wrapped your coils. Like I said earlier the vinyl I used makes some noise when it's cold outside. Other then that, I'm pretty quiet now too. But I'm not going to stop screwing around until I get silence all the time!!!!

Its sound like when you have a bad strut, And the noise is not 100% gone.

uhmmmmm, with the way things are going, no...probably not. If I do, it won't be in the "caravan." Depends on if I have to work and stuff too.

am i going insane here? i know i have eibachs, but i was told to have the progressive part of the springs on the bottom! can someone please finalize this with me? the word EIBACH is right side up and the progressive coils are on the bottom. so many people have them "upsidedown" or so i think. oh, i think i'm going to replace some of the rubber parts that isolate the shaft on the rebound. that's the only other thing i can think of. i've spent too much $ already, but it must be done and it will!

You want a sticky? I'll give you a sticky! However, there's a lot of "other stuff" in this thread and since I'm unlowered, I'm completely lost. So, someone start a new thread with JUST THE IMPORTANT INFORMATION and I'll make it a sticky.

Uhm...I put them in the way I took them out. H&R is right side up, and the car is happy as far as I know. I son't know about eibachs, but the coils on the H&R's are close at the top and bottom, and not in the middle...because the car is on the ground with the tires on, I can't get the bottom...next time I have him up in the air I will take a better piccy.
