Bose AUX Write-up

I was trying to find the thread with the AUX jack Write-up in the stock Bose HU, I was looking at it on Monday right when the org went under maintenance(This is how bad it was I was just getting ready to go buy the parts), but I cant find the thread, Ive tried all the searchs(no more free search?) and I came up with the thread but it must have been deleted in all the clean up, so im wondering does anyone else have a write up that they can post I need it for the 97-98 Bose system, Thanks

It's on a '95 but should be roughly the same.

Free search still exists, it's called 'site:forums.maxima.org' appended to your google search.

The org's search is screwed up though, won't allow searching only in titles...brings up 500 instead of 100 threads now though, that's cool.

It's not completely the same. I think you need to wire the switch to something other than ground. I myself did the AUX mod on my '96, but was told it was different for later models.

Would you mind posting the updated link? I have found some old links in other threads but the links are messed up .. they direct me to some detailing polish or something

Thanks!

I can't believe how often this comes up, as if it isn't posted in the Site Announcements forum or something.

Well .. it might have been easier for who ever made this decision to do a search and replace on the old database to switch links from showthread to oldthread before changing ... but anyway thanks for helping out boneheads like me who don't read. I did also do searches in just the audio and electronics section but it didn't show up in my search guess the search engine doesn't search the old database ... my point is, I did try to search at least.

The Clarion HU uses a Mitsubishi (now Renesas) audio controller which a pinout diagram is available from their website. The input switching is handled by this chip mounted on the bottom board. So the RCA wiring should be soldered onto either the Tape or CD inputs. But this would not give you any faceplate control of the iPod.

Instead I used a MonsterCable iCruze box. This kit plugs-in in place of a CD Changer. You then organize the iPod with playlists mimicking CDs in the Changer and uses the faceplate buttons to change songs. There is a display option to show the song titles etc. Works reasonably well.
