uummmm only had one TC ever go bad on me (cheap arss American cars!) and it made my take offs VERY jumpy. Also it would seem to slip under accel but it was a while back so I am sorry, but I don't recall if there was any other issues or not.

May post in the all motor forum and see if ya get many hits

Cheers!

one or more of:

- delayed engagement into gear when moving shift lever
- shuddering and or chatter when locked up
- failure to lock up when supposed to
- failure to remain locked up when supposed to
- failure to unlock when supposed to (sometimes resulting in engine stall)
- feels like car is in neutral when supposed to be in gear, at times it will feel like you're "neutral dropping it" when taking off from a stop
- "slipping"- engine RPM higher in some situations (ie. acceleration), but it feels like slow and sluggish

Im sure theres more

^ what he said, driving like that is hell. i almost got pulled over a few times for peeling out in an intersection. guess he figured i was learning to drive stick.

i was also under the impression that it was usually the clutch packs in the auto tranny going bad, not the TC

What i'm getting is Chatter in 2nd gear and 1 st, during what is supposed to be it's peak in torque 2500-4000 rpms. after that the chatter goes away.

clutch feels fine, and no slipping.

bolt on timing ring?

manual tranies don't use a TC ... the reason for the TC is this:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/torque-converter.htm
the TC takes the place of the clutch

what are the symptoms your Max is doin?

I get a chattering when i'm in 2000,-40000 RPMs before and after those ranges the chatter disappears. that is the only thing. shifting is fine. My car is Extremely low. Could anything be from that.

hhhmmmm ..... I don't think that it has anything to do whit the drop. I don't know what it would be if it did have anything to do with the car being lowered.

does it do that only while moving ... or if you sit still and just rev does it do it too? if it's only under load (while moving) it may be a bearing in the trans and that is the optimal range for hearing it. if it is ... it's probably doing it under load too ... listen very close. are your mounts ok (trans and engine)? also ... have you done anything under the hood lately - if so ... what?

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!! Is the 'chattering' more of an engine stutter that only happens with clutch released between 2-4k when you rapidly press the throttle just a little bit? Because that is a normal side effect of the fidanza that everyone, myself included, experiences.

no signs of the engine stuttering, you can hear the engine is smooth. but this vibration is while moving only during those ranges in 2nd gear. I would hope this is not common, the chatter is violent. But the more i press the gas, the more violent it gets.

hummmmm, it almost sounds like you should pull the tranny and inspect, after checking axles and lugs just for ****s and giggles. Those fidanza's can be tricky to install and not seat right, also everything tourqed properly? Could maybe even be a timing ring issue I suppose, I'm sorta at a loss on this one right now, how does the clutch engage when taking off from a stop? any way to get a vid up?

Hace you checked fluid level and condition? When was the last maintenance on the trans, if ever? Any codes from the TCM or ECU?

i forgot to mention that the other day, the car got stuck in second gear when this happened the o/d light on the dash was blinking, it wouldn't go down to first, i had to put it in park and restart it to solve the problem. it hasn't happened since. i haven't checked the fluid, and the computer doesn't read any codes
