Where to hide spare keys under Maxima
#43
Yeah, what i did was get a key cut, but i got one of those cheap a$$ thin metal keys so it doesnt make my wallet too fat an dig into my *** lol. alternatively if i were to hide a key on the maxima, id do it in the front air dam area, like behind the fog light cover(the thin plastic cover), just tape it to that or zap strap it to it.
Or even better..behind the corner light..the one that easily pops out. No one would think of looking there lol..

tie it to your oil drain plug and shove it in there.... its tricky though 'cuz you have to remove it very quickly if you lock yourself out.

All my other cars I use to go to a Ace Hardware store, and get those plastic credit card keys. Fits in the wallet nice. The card would have a key for the ignition, and one for the trunk. I have not looked at getting one for my Maxima, and if my memory serves me well I believe they were only single cut keys.

go to AAA and get one of those plastic spare key credit card looking things... its the thickness of two credt cards fits perfect in your wallet... and if you dont want that in your wallet, its easier to hide than a actual key, and the plastic is barely strong enough to unlock the car door, its too weak to turn the ignition... so its PERFECT! or just give me a spare and i'll mail it to you when you need it...

lol...
when u get home put a hook next to your door.
now everytime you get home put your keys there. after 30 days of this it should become habitual.
as for you leaving your keys in your car.
what about making sure you have it out of the ignition before getting out?
seriously- i dont mean to make the situation sound stupid. but you don't need to post a thread about something so darn simple.
key in the sidewall?
hit a bump at high speeds- the tire flexes and your adhesive releases a key at high speeds.
can't you just gerry-rig that old 2nd gen maxima electric doorkey thing.

My dad had a Blazer for a lot of years. It was red and he took a peice of red tape and put a door key in the gas door, took an ignition key and kept it in the center counsle. When he got his truck stolen (in Nashville), the took a screwdriver to the door lock and the ignition colum to break it down. I guess if I was gonna hide a key .... I'd try to velcroe it up under the front or rear lip. Not much good if anyone sees you pull it out tho ... ???

yeah the cool thing about maximas, is with the door open u hit the door locks it wont lock so u first have to turn the car off...manually lock the drivers door and then shut the door...by then if u forgot the key in the car..then ur asking for it anyways..

This is what I to do. Take an old cell phone and rig it up to your keyless entry (you know like the terrorist do for bombs). and hook it up so that it unlocks your car when you dial the number 1800-unlock.
I know its crazy, but it would be kick ***.
oh yea, and hide a key under the ECM, so you can start the car after its unlocked.

My mechanic had to bail out my mom and suggested to duct tape it to the back of your rear license plate. That way it's not noticeable from the outside and in a safe place where it is unlikely to fall off. Although this is quite a contradiction to have a thread about a secret, oh well.
