Yes it's true, terrible herbst (a large fuel, oil, car wash, gambling, and food company just installed a new state of the art car wash and it did the job on my mass air meter! My car barely ran and was bucking like a bronco. My wide band A/F gauge read a whopping rich 8-9 and I barely made it home.

This new wash sprays water straight up underneath the car to clean the undercarriage and the pressure is very high. No more auto car washes for the I30krab, just hand washes from now on!! hmm?

I actually bought a brand new 1996 300ZXTT unit for $386.00 including overnite shipping. I don't like used parts that are this important.

Oh well, doo-doo happens even to smart, intelligent, handsome guys like me! :stfu:

Did you talk to the owners? As long as it was original equipment they should be liable for the damage.

hand job.... er... I mean hand washes are so much better anyway. They take a little longer to do, but the result is much better.
Just make sure you use the microfiber wash mit. Those are amazing at taking off all the crap that a pressure washer cant remove.

Finding a used one wasn't the issue, as they can be found very easily. He clearly stated "I don't like used parts that are this important."

All N62 MAFs are the same. To bad you didn't want a used one because you can find J30 ones all day for cheap.

Just fixed my car and it runs better with the new unit. I'm not sure, do these mass air meters become corrupt over a period of time or is it all or nothing?

Pretty much all or nothing. Best thing to do if its acting funky is clean it with MAF cleaner. Sometimes the element becomes dirty and cleaning it makes a big difference.
