Trunk Lid swap

Any one do this yet. I have to do mine. Im sure its pretty much just line it up and bolt it on. and the same with the tail lights. But what about the trunk lock. Is it just as simple to switch the locks so i can continue to use my key?? any advice will help thanks.

I have been thinking about doing this if I can find a trunk lid with a spoiler on it. Some how it just seems easier then drilling holes in my trunk and bolting a spoiler on.

I just bought a '96 trunk from a junk yard for my '99 (don't ask). Somone had already pulled the latch from the trunk. Will a '97-'99 latch transfer right over to a '95/'96 trunk? Is it a simple transfer? I trust/hope the remote keyless entry will still work? I trust/hope a '95/'96 trunk fits on a '97-'99?

I'm pretty sure years are not interchangeable. Well I mean they will fit and close but they will have some gaps because bumpers are different. But swapping trunks isnt hard. Just bolt it to the trunk rods.

Mmmm.... I was afraid of that. I could be out $100. I figured it was o.k. because they only make '97-'99 CF trunks, right? I know '95/'96 guys buy the '97 CF trunks and I know some people do the '95 --> '97 conversion (front and back) (but maybe they change bumpers too?). But, then again, I can't say I've seen anyone go from '97 to '95. We'll see....

i always thought the bumpers were the same, but there is a part number variation. any visible differences?

Sure, the '97 bumper cover is an inch or two longer than the '95. Also, I've noticed on my '96 I have a nice trim piece covering the rivets (just under the decklid, when closed). My '99 has the rivets exposed. And, I know you didn't ask this but, I believe the bumper support itself is stronger.

So can I buy A 97-99 Carbon Fiber trunk and put it on my 96 Maxima along with changing my bumper from 96 to 97-99, right.

that is the route i took. i converted the rear on my 96 to the 97-99 style. i bought a cf trunk, inner and outer tails from 97-99, and the tailight harness, and bolted it on my 96. However you may keep the 96 rear bumper or swap it out to the 97 - 99 bumper.

You do not need to change your bumper cover. But you will need to change your taillights.
