Whose got the highest mileage?? Any issues?
#521
234,196 Mostly freeway travel--I had a 147 mile round trip commute for 10 years. Now just local (less than 20 miles) driving in urban streets.
1998 SE Automatic. Bought at 9,400 miles in 1999.
All original, save the radiator which was replaced last year.
Body a little scuffed thanks to the ex-husband and a lightbulb is out in the Bose stereo so stations 1-3 are not visible at night. Not a big deal really.
Happy little warrior she is!

I remember posting In this thread with around 130,000 miles and now I have 182,000. While I just started my career and see a lot of coworkers getting newer cars I have no desire to. I still love driving my max everyday. Can't await to cross 200,000
#527
new cars are overrated, keep the cool maxi.

230,000+ miles only thing I had to change was rear axle and rear rotors only because I had an accident body has some !minor dents but car runs like a beast oh and I have an exhuast leak no major issues in love with the car

97 GXE 180,000km's - 200,480kms
I bought my baby last year with a failed inspection, (rejection), sticker on it at only 180,000km's, for a low price of $350CDN , he even tossed in two brand new summer tires, I'm now at 200,480km's.
Here is a list of repairs I have done since I've had it.
-Rocker panels had holes on both sides, a small hole in passenger front floor and the wheel wells had a couple of rust holes, which all needed work. Got everything patched at a local body place, which I frequent, for $100CDN
-Had to install a new/used Water Pump, New Radiator, belt and New transmission cooler lines , Water pump seized, car overheated too much before I got pulled over which in turn cracked the radiator. The Trans. cooler lines need to be replaced because they were so rusted that they crumpled/fell apart when removing the broken RAD. Total bill $800CDN
- outer passenger tie-rod needed replacement. And two front winter tires. Paid $40 for the tie-rod and got it installed for $15 labour. Got front winter tires on trade for other ones I had that didn't fit. Then got my Passed inspection sticker/slip at no extra cost! Total bill $55CDN.
1 year later.... into the 200,000km mark now
-CV's on both sides went bad, replaced entire axles with low mileage used ones, $100 for the set, $200 for the removal of old ones and install of used ones. Total bill $300
- Installed/replaced front sway links, (both sides). Total cost: $30 for the sway-link kit. I installed myself.
- Brakes, (entire system). New rotors, Pads, Calipers and lines. Outer drivers tie-rod replacement. Total bill $1500 not another one like this But at least I got my inspection sticker again this year after the brake job, despite the problems listed below....
Things I still need to fix:
- Filler neck needs replaced.
- rear wheel wells needs a little patching
- Passengers side rocker panel need to have a new small hole patched
- Fuel lines are quite rusty but not leaking "yet"
-A/C compressor pulley is either seizing up or the belt is just slipping causing mild power issues.
- Transmission pan is quite rusty and is seeping fluid very slowly, will have to replace soon.
-exhaust system needs done from Y pipe back, so I might as well get a performance exhaust and aftermarket Y pipe

congrats!
I have a 1995 maxima (195,000 miles), got it about 7 years ago (140,000 miles).
I love this car, one of the nicer cars I have owned.
Replaced: all 4 struts, alternator, muffler, multiple fuel injectors, fuel filter, front valve cover gasket, headlights (bulbs), stereo, light bulbs inside of the automatic climate control cluster, r134a
It is a pearl white exterior with light tan leather interior.

99 se auto cali spec, bought with 50k miles drove to 8x,xxx miles. Near mint condition car. Oem interstate battery died, camshaft position sensor o-ring leak, a/c compressor bearing disintergrated, diff pin sheared off and blew out trans case, limped it home by filling with trans fluid and driving it, replaced with rebuilt unit.
97 gle auto fed spec exhaust rusted and replaced. About 175,000 miles. Good condition car.
97 se 5spd fed spec replaced rusty exhaust, negative battery cable to engine block ground issue caused intermitent crank interupt and ultimately no crank, sanded clean and fixed. 215,000 miles, could be more. The spedo/odo works when it feels like it.
Maximas are amazing cars.

My car is 1997 Infiniti I30 (which is nothing but maxima) and currently we are at 383k miles on odo with original engine and transmission. Car still runs strong and will keep it until it takes dust. Bought it in 2000 with under 50k on it and since then maintained myself. Currently on 9th set of new tires and I lost the count of brake pads I replaced (since Autozone keeps giving free replacement, I keep changing every year ;-) )
Major Repairs so far:
Starter (At around 240k)
Alternator (At around 327k) -- This troubled me like anything as it was giving intermittent problem.
Oil pressure switch (It was leaking around 200k)
Knock Sensor (Around 250k)
Water Pumps (Changed as preventive maintenance twice at 150k and 300k)
Rear windows Motors/Regulators
Bose Head Unit (Found one from LKQ for 30 bucks)
All 4 struts 3 times so far. Strut mounts were changed once.
Wheel bearings for both wheels in front.
CV Axles for both sides.
I think car has already served us way more than any life expected out of any types of a car and now it has turned into my passion to keep it running. Lately we are driving it a lot lesser since I got another new car. I will keep it unti either engine or tranny craps out on me. Tranny has started showing some signs of crapping out though and with the mileage on the car I don't think its even worth putting a used/rebuilt tranny into it.
Its been a long since I returned back to this forum, I missed the fun all this while. Getting old now so hopefully I will have more time to dig into various forums ;-)

96 Max GXE w/ ABS.
- Lower control arms at 225k
- Obviously rotors and pads and tires, etc...
- Water pump at 250k
- Spark plugs
- 1 O2 sensor
- Knock sensor at 250k
- Fuel filter
- Rear left window regulator
Things left to fix:
AC compressor clutch bearing is bad. Noisy.
CV Axles are looking rough. Gonna change them soon.
Otherwise, everything else is stock from the factory. Engine and tranny still going strong.

My 96 GLE Auto has 236k on the dash. Swapped motor with a 98 se motor(120k) at around 200k (original motor was just fine, just came across a very good deal)
Have done so much to this car, my first maxima got it 3 years ago completely stock. Other that a complete Motor swap pretty much everything has been replaced at one point, except for tranny.
New Suspension everything replaced within the last year. KYB struts/ Tein S.tech springs and Tein tie-rod ends

Ive had my 1995 5spd for about 8 years and it now has 317k on the body and some of the parts. I did a DE-k swap about 100k miles ago because I found a great deal on a motor that had 120 actual miles out of a crash test maxima. All bolts, lines, insides were still shiny and clean.
Ive replaced most of the expected parts once or twice (alternator, starter, battery, brake pads, rotors, radiator, some hoses, wheel bearings) but I guess that is what the autozone lifetime warranty is for. Had the tranny rebuilt years ago and now my dif bearing is going bad. So ill have to have that fixed soon. Overall, its been really reliable and I drive a lot.

My 99' Maxima
I've got 192k miles on mine.
Replaced Starter
Replaced Fuel Pump
Replaced the Clutch
Numerous electrical problems in the past...
Car is currently immobilized for some reason!
And my most favorite... I had to rebuild my transmission. Woo!
But hey, at least the motor is still running strong

I have a 97 Maxima with 256,000+ and counting. I'm basically the 2nd owner and it was taken to the dealer for everything by the previous owner.
Auto, original transmission and engine, shocks, struts, coil packs, all original still.
I replaced both front axels, the A/C condenser in front of the radiator (stone had gone through the original one), a few rear brake lines that were rusty, and welded in a new flex pipe.
General maintenance included some headlight bulbs, 4 new tires, rear brake pads, that's it. I bought it at around 206K with no inspection, over 50,000 miles in about 15 months so far.
Don't see a need to get rid of it ever, so I'll probably do shocks/struts soon and maybe drop it 1-2 inches in the process. Some engine performance stuff, then maybe a little body and paint and wheels since I have 2 bent steel rims that are annoying. If the engine or transmission ever went, I'd just replace them.
