Whose got the highest mileage?? Any issues?
97 5speed. quite as hell. 189k. I love this car..changed; knock sensor, tranny, clutch, starter{twice},3 o2's,front rotors, front calipers. Computer still showing knock and o2 codes, (don't know what the hell thats about). Any ideas???
I got a long way to go to hit that.
Lets see.....So far wth 176K on the chassis.
4 Coil packs and ECU- Thanks to HKS DLI-
All oxygen sensors.
1 tranny- Auto
Brake pads
Drive axles
Blown head gasket- Motor was ok, decided to rebuild.

Just bought a 1995 SE with 218,850 miles on her and I have got to say that I am impressed so far. I bought it for $1000 to commute to and from work in, but I don't mind driving it for more than that now.
Issues to date:
Replaced MAF
Replaced Knock Sensor
Replaced Spark Plugs
Replaced driver's side rear window motor
Need to fix small crack in radiator
Need to replace shocks badly
Slight loss in power from time to time (suspect coil packs)
Need to replace power antenna motor

I have 300,000km on my maxima...
I need 4 new struts, I've replaced the exhaust twice (from o2 sensor to exhaust), and brakes and rotors, and oil changes every 5000km.... other then that Nothing....
I always changed the air filters, oil filters... and get the transmission fluid changed every 40,000km... other minor stuff too but nothing major

1999 GLE Auto, 133k miles almost on the nose (hit 133000 on the way home from work today!)
Car has had one previous owner, older gentleman who babied the hell out of it. Got a stack of invoices several inches high documenting EVERY service check and oil change.

Wow! I have owned my 95SE 5-speed since day 1 (October 1, 1994). It is DJ2 Black Emerald with tan leather interior and all options. Canadian LSD model. Mostly stock other than Budget y-pipe, Vibrant front strut bar and K&N panel air filter.
Virtually trouble free except for:
1) a new 02 sensor replaced on warranty about 13 years ago. The other 2 are original.
2) replaced an EGR control solenoid and temperature control sensor
3) replaced starter last year
4) replaced rear calipers and pads 5 years ago because I seized the right rear as a result of not using the emergency brake for about 5 years (my stupidity)
5) left tranny seal started to leak about 5 years ago and gear oil consumption increased over time. Just kept on topping up until last August and had all bearings and seals replaced, as well as clutch components. Clutch had lots of life in it but it was out so I had it replaced. Had just developed a split in the passenger outer cv boot so replaced all cv boots at the same time.
Runs and looks like new. Just passed 82,500 mostly highway miles.
Has run on Esso Extra XD3 0w30 PAO full synthetic oil for the last 4 plus years after running AutoRx through the crankcase for the specified mileage.
The front brake pads are original and still have 7 32nds" left of the original 13 32nds", if you can believe it.

Not sure what you are talking about. The differential carrier bearing problem occurs at about 60,000 miles or slightly less in 4th Gen manual transmissions.
The other problems could be largely a function of the age of the car, rather than the miles.
I didn't comment on having to replace a battery once. That has absolutely nothing to do with the miles on the car, rather it is a function of the age of the battery.

97se 5spd with 240***ish miles. No problems really at all. I keep getting a cel code p0440 and p0446. I believe it's a vaccuum line. But it goes away randomly and comes back randomly. I kinda dog the poor car too. but it still runs strong.
Good stuff guys. I've been lurking on here for a while so here's my first post.
My '96 GLE has 191,000. Nothing major, kept up with the scheduled maintenance. Replaced the struts and rotors last year. She runs clean as a whistle.

95 with 285k miles. tranny gave at 278k miles (auto)original motor. runs super strong and quiet great car. only thing i've replaced is the front brakes and water pump..
needs knock sensor since last 4 years and new rear shocks thats it.
notthing but castrol gtx high milege oil used last year in a half. changed every 2800 miles.

1999 Max. 158,033 miles on it. I bought the car with 49,500 (appx) and have had to change the alternator once, the A/C Compressor, and the muffler replaced. Other than brake and oil changes, this car has been one of the best I have owned. Purrs like a kitten, good power and speed.
305,000 1 big issue, others wife generated
I was getting around 35 mpg until it stopped moving. The only issue till then was the power steering rack leaking because I can't get my wife to understand the concept of not holding the steering wheel at the end points when parking, etc.. So the rack leaks. Other than that, the car is perfect. I miss it.
The powertrain started to do this "clunking" thing on acceleration, much like a worn u-joint in an old style car. Then suddenly, I started off from a light and "wham, clunk!" very violently and now it won't go forward or backward. There is a sort of change to the sound of the motor/transmission when you shift it from park to any gear, but can't pin it down. Two tranny guys have looked at it and they think it maybe spider or spline, but they don't really know and it will cost at least $400 to look at it. No metal in the fluid, other than tiny, tiny stuff you'd expect after 300,000 miles. SO now, it's drained of fluid waiting for me to get the guts to drop it out and see.
If anyone with knowledge about this has any input, I'd appreciate it. I'm hoping it's a torque converter that just snapped and would like to know from someone who's had this problem. It's definitely a fundamental drive train issue. Other than this clunking thing that was really subtle, it was shifting fantastic up until this incident that felt like a broken shaft or something.
Again, I'd love some KNOWLEDGEABLE or EXPERIENCED people who have had this issue or fixed it. I've got plenty of ideas from people like me who are theorizing, but I'm short on ideas from those who have actually fixed this.

from what you described the trans guy your takin to know what there doin thats exactally what it sounds like to me. if you were to say "sheer" or "snap" a spline or spider gear you are goin NOWHERE. imo pay the 4 bills and fix it this car is defanetly worth it. and the diff doesnt have a "pan" so to speak so you wouldnt notice any furry animals chances are your trans is good but your diff is f***ed
Seems like I've had better luck than some of you.
My '99 I30 cali spec had zero issues at ALL until 150k.
I have 169k now.
2 alternators
1 ac compressor
1 starter
everything else is stock, struts, exhaust, coils, even the spark plugs I pulled at 160k looked fine, I could have put them right back in and still be driving on them. Even the transmission fluid, P/S fluid, and the COOLANT have never been changed, ever, same fluids they put in it in Japan. I don't even need to top them off!
and lets be perfectly clear, I beat the **** out of my car daily, this is an abusive relationship
I swear they call this the I30 as a joke because 130 is how fast it goes
love nissan

O...M...G... That is flippin' awesome!!! I mean WOW! I have a 97 SE with 227,500 miles. Gets 27 - 29mpg on the highway and haven't really had any problems with it... I hope it keeps going forever!
Just crossed 300,000 Friday and right now needs an OEM suspension to get back the 4th gen luxury along with the power and valve cover gaskets. Taking a rough beating on these NYC streets..
155k on 95 GXE I've had for a year.
Cleaned out intake side to UIM and the EGR valve.
Replaced radiator saturday.
Currently replacing water pump - may have to take out the engine due to a bolt busting trying to jack out the pump, we'll see in the coming weekends. Water looking like it was leaking out of my oil pan wasn't a fun time.
Need to replace leaking power steering pump and both lower control arms although one is going to fail soon the other is eroded completely from oil leakage. I've replaced one tire due to alignment issue from control arm already. It's next on the fix list after oil leak.
Need to find the source of some oil leakage. It looks like its the oil pressure sensor and either the upper and potentially lower oil pan gaskets.

My wife has a 96 GXE, or GLE, I'm really not sure. We bought it for $650 right after we sold her 2003 I35 to get rid of car payments. It had 293k, at least 2 bad coilpacks, quarter tank of bad gas, custom seats and interior that were destroyed, bald tires, core support damage, suspension bushings and struts that were almost nonexistent. The owners pulled it out of their garage after 3 years of sitting and were going to crush it if no one bought it over a weekend.
I've spent almost a grand on it by now, and it rides like new with all new struts, front end bushings, balljoints, a good rack I pulled from another car, some almost new tires, and an alignment. I also did a little core support straightening via dodge ram truck and tow strap, installed a set of seats I bought off craigslist for cheap, cleaned the headliner, replaced the dash vents, power antenna (then promptly ripped it off on a treelimb
), and did a LOT of cleaning.
It's now a polished turd with 297k and running strong. Still needs a little more straightening up front, a flex pipe and a few leaks fixed, but you would be amazed if you saw it before and after.
Other maximas:
95 5 speed black/ black- 105k to 155k (current owner has around 225k)
90 black on black 5 speed- 186k at sale
95 GLE, 193k, bought with blown hg.. fixed and sold
89 GXE, 244k at sale- mint condition car
90 SE 5 speed- 222k- owned for a week
97 black on black 5 speed- 193k, currently under construction

Just bought my 96 SE about a month ago...125xxx miles i believe. Had to replace the rear brakes and it needs new tires, but nothing else...previous owner was a family friend and he never had to do anything major either.
